Happy World Cardmaking Day everyone! I’m so happy to be here on the SCT blog today to celebrate the joy of handmade cards! (It took me long enough, right?) It’s been more than a year and a half since I started making cards and I can’t believe how much fun I’m having! Today I have two cards to share with you and the first one features a few of the brand new SCT Delivered Clear Stamps!

For my first card, I started with a stencil from Simon Says Stamp and lightly blended on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Mowed Lawn using a Life-Changing Brush. These brushes are new to me and wow do they ever make soft blending easy! I wanted to create a soft faded background to ground my stamped and fussy cut images. I used the teacup and one of the succulents from our new SCT Stamp Set #1. I think these stamps are perfect for coloring and I just fussy cut the images once I colored them in with a few Copic markers.

I used some Versafine Black Onyx ink to stamp the large thanks greeting and finished off the card with a few sequins. The finished card panel is mounted onto some Therm O Web Gina K. Designs black onyx cardstock for a simple, elegant thank you card.

My second card started with an ink blended background of Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Black Soot. Once the inks were completely dry, I used a quatrefoil embossing folder from Close to My Heart that was part of our September SCT Sampler kit to create some cool background texture.

The card sentiment is a word and shadow die set from my collection at Simon Says Stamp and I used some Therm O Web Gina K. Designs Passionate Pink cardstock  for a pop of color in the ‘thanks’ layer. I finished the card off with some simple silver sequins.

Hope you get a chance to create a handmade card today to celebrate!

Happy World Card Making Day! I have mad love for this holiday since it gives me the excuse to create for HOURS!

My main goal in creating this simple hello card was to use felt. I recently die cut some felt and remembered how much I love the result, and with the right felt, it’s sooo easy. And the Spellbinders Platinum 6 manual die cut machine helps to cut felt with ease!

supplies CARDSTOCK: Bazzill Basics; PATTERNED PAPER: American Crafts; STAMP: CZ Design for Simon Says Stamp; INK, FELT: My Favorite Things; DIES: CZ Design for Simon Says Stamp, My Favorite Things; ADHESIVE: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Therm O Web

I often tend to go big, bold, and bright with my cards, but I stretched myself with a softer color palette. World Card Making Day is a great day to stretch your creativity, so I challenge you to do something a little out of your comfort zone today!

Here’s to an amazing, rewarding, and creative day!

Happy World Card Making Day everyone! In honor of the day I made a feminine card with flowers and lace.

To give the card a lot of “reach-out-and-touch-me” texture, I started with a base of corrugated cardboard. Then I created a lace-wrapped centerpiece alternating strips of white lace on a piece of cardstock.

I adhered the lace-wrapped cardstock to the corrugated chipboard using a 3D adhesive. Then I added a vibrant flower, leaves, decorative pins and the sentiment.

Have a fabulous day “celebrating” this fun day with the SCT Team!
