"I’m so excited to be celebrating Scrapbook & Cards Today’s big 10th birthday! What birthday celebration would be complete without party hats and fanciful straws? I made some of these specially for SCT!
These were easy-peasy to make.
- First, I found a downloadable party hat template on Pinterest. Tip: Just search “party hat template” within Pinterest or do a broader online search of this phrase, and many options will come up. I printed a party hat template and then gathered some festive patterned paper.
- I cut the hat template from the patterned paper, then I rolled up the hats and glued the edges.
- Next I decorated the hats with fringed garland. I happened to have some pre-made fringe on hand, but you could easily make your own using a roll of crepe paper. Just cut some slits along the edges and crumple it up a bit.
- I then used some strips of striped patterned paper to create accordion rosettes. I used a rosette steel die to cut out the accordion strip, but these are also easy to cut and fold without any special cutting tool.
- I adorned each rosette with a button center, then I added the completed rosettes to the hats. I made extra rosettes to decorate some colorful straws.

"Hello, it's Sheri joining you now! One of my favorite ways to personalize a celebration is with coordinated loot bags and party favors. I have a very simple tutorial to share with you today on how to create slim style treat bags, as well as how to create wrapped chocolate bar party favors to share with your guests.
To create a slim style loot bag, first determine the desired size. The ones I created measure 4 1/2” wide and 6 1/2” tall. Score two lines as shown to create crisp folds.
Adhere adhesive along the bottom edge of the middle portion, as well as along one edge.
Fold the edge without the adhesive over first, followed by the edge with the adhesive.
Embellish as desired, and fill with goodies! I used a combination of die cut doilies, tags, and tassels. Have fun…anything goes!!!
To create wrapped chocolate bar favors, first select a patterned paper to use as your base, or opt for a pretty gift wrap as I used for my examples. (*tip – The thinner the paper, the easier it is to create neat folds.)
Trim the patterned paper to size, center and fold over candy bar. Apply adhesive on the underside of the patterned paper to create an invisible seam.
Once your candy bar is wrapped, it’s time to embellish as desired.
I couldn’t resist using these 4×4 and 4×6 cards from Bo Bunny’s “You’re Invited”collection. To create a crisp edge, I scored the top and bottom edges.
Adhere the 4×4 and 4×6 card toppers to the candy bars, wrap with decorative twine, and embellish as desired. (I used a combination of die cut and punched shapes, number stickers, and dimensional flower stickers.) Once again, anything goes! You can design a matching set, or give each one a unique touch.

It’s so fun to see how creative the designers are when it comes to party decorations and favors. With all their talents combined you will have the most stylish party ever! I regularly use and very much enjoy products by Sizzix and Pebbles Inc. Both companies are among my favorites! Since I’m fairly new to paper crafting, I have yet to try Creative Memories products but I’ve heard such wonderful things about their product line and the company itself that it would be so wonderful to add some of their supplies to my crafting collection.
