We are “thinking about you” all day and hope you’re getting your card making groove on! Or if you’re not able to be crafting today, we sure hope today’s cards will inspire you the moment you can get in your craft space.
I think we all love those little reminders that someone has us on their mind and this hour our team has created some sweet “thinking of you” cards they’re excited to share…
“Because of the prevalence of text, email and Facebook messages, it’s rare to get paper cards these days. So when I do receive a physical card from someone it’s very special. And it’s ULTRA special when it’s a handmade card. When I make cards for other people, I like to add an additional handmade touch. My favorite cardmaking technique is stitching, whether it be hand, machine or even faux stitching. I always stitch on pre-cut pieces of cardstock and/or paper first before attaching them to the card front so that the back-stitching is hidden behind the paper panels and can’t be seen when you open the card.
Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Pebbles; Corrugated cardboard: Fancy Pants Designs; Paper flowers/leaves: Prima; Stitched Circle Die: Lawn Fawn; Adhesive: Therm-O-Web and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Other: yarn, lace, gems
For an extra personal touch, I crocheted a rose and adorned it with vintage-type gems from my stash. Happy World Cardmaking everyone!” Stacy Cohen
……………….
Supplies | Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Designs, Elle’s Studio; Button: Teresa Collins; Puffy Sticker: Fancy Pants Designs; Enamel Dots: Studio Calico; Cut File: Scrapbook and Cards Today WCMD Free Cut File; Ink: Stampin’ Up!; Other: Ribbon, thread
“Hello SCT Friends! I love to add different textures to cards besides paper! Ribbon, like the wide organza I used on my card is lightweight enough to be used under paper as a separate layer, and I added additional texture by sewing the layers together with a sewing machine!” ~ Meghann Andrew
……………….
We love this great tip by Paige Evans. Tip: Let the sentiment be the star of the show and die cut it (using one of today’s free cut files!) from your favorite patterned paper. To add extra texture and love, hand stitch around the phrase using a coordinating color of thread.
……………….

Right now my sister in law, Joanne, needs a little extra hug and some cheering up. She is always doing so much for others and cares for so many people but right now she is running on fumes and could use a little extra TLC herself. I have been helping her learn how to make cards and scrapbook and it is one things that always helps her destress and forget her problems for a little while.

I love the idea of adding fibers and fabric to cards! So pretty! I know I have a sewing machine some place in my house. I would like to play with this technique. I grew up during the age where we wrote letters to our grandparents, mailed personal invitations and never ever forgot to send a thank you note. I couldn’t agree more with the importance of sending something in the mail to brighten someone’s day. My friend could use something like that in her life now. She travels for work and is having a challenging time keeping the pace required. How nice of you to include a little something something for someone important to us. I think I’m going to make a card for her myself. And send it in the mail instead of hand delivering it.
Thanks for the special giveaway. My mum is anxiously waiting for a heart procedure and I have been feeling helpless as she is on the other side of the ocean.
Thinking of You cards are some of my favourites to make – and those shared here offer such lovely inspiration! Today, as I do everyday, I’m thinking of my mom who has been living on her own since my dad’s passing two years ago. She’s so strong (and an avid fan of my cards, too *grin*! Looking forward to seeing her next weekend and, hopefully, bringing her back to our place for a week (or longer!). Thank you for the smiles and ideas!

There are a couple of people who I know are going through some tough times due to cancer in the family. One’s son is fighting leukaemia and another friend’s father has cancer and is in India suffering through chemotherapy. Despite these setbacks they are both putting up a brave front. Love all those techniques. I was talking to a Canada Postal employee and he said no one sends mail anymore….i looked at him and proudly professed that I do 🙂
Oh, please, please, please, my cousin could use a serious pick me up!! She lives in Colorado and is one of 4 people in her town diagnosed with West Nile Virus, plus she has meningitis because of it. The neuroinvasive kind that attacks the nervous system. I think she’s 3 weeks in and still wiped out but starting to get a little stronger. Friends and family have rallied around, trying to help with meals and care of the kids. Everyone knows someone who could use a little sunshine in their day but my cousin Kimberly, REALLY could use a snail mail hug. She has weeks to months of recovery ahead of her. Not to be maudlin, but one of the folks in her community has already died of this. It’s serious business. Thanks so much for your consideration and thanks for the amazing inspiration from the team. I love every one of these projects!
some amazing cards being shared! love it! My friend Kirsten could definitely use a pick me up – I’ve been known to send happy mail – but haven’t done it in awhile…need to get on that!
