………………………..
Hey everybody, and happy birthday to Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine! It’s Paige Evans here to share a birthday-themed layout featuring a large title cut file and lots of colors—two of my favorite things!
Supplies | Cardstock, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper, stickers: Pink Paislee Bloom Street; Cut file: Paige Evans; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Watercolors: Prima; Pen: Zig; Modeling paste: Liquitex
I started by die cutting my Happy Birthday to You cut file (which you can download for free below!) from white textured cardstock by American Crafts—it’s my favorite cardstock for cutting with a Silhouette Cameo, it cuts like butter every time!
Next, in Silhouette Studio, I ungrouped the cut file, spread all the inner pieces out, and then offset them a bit to make them slightly larger. I placed the pieces into the grid, spaced so that I could cut coordinating rectangles of different patterned paper. I grabbed my newest collection with Pink Paislee, Bloom Street, and a few supplemental colored patterned papers and trimmed them to mirror the design in Silhouette Studio. For example, the “H” took up a 2.5 x 2.5″ square grid, so I cut my patterned paper to 2.5 x 2.5″ square and placed it on the sticky mat in the same place it showed in Studio software. This way, I could run the mat through the machine only once and have it cut out all of the backing pieces in one go! Even though it takes a while to cut all of the individual patterned papers, I still think it’s much faster than fussy cutting all of the backing pieces by hand.
I applied liquid glue to the back of the cut file and then placed the backing pieces. Turning the finished backed cut file over is always such a fun “ta-da!” moment, and always worth the time and effort. I grabbed a piece of Vicki Boutin Mixed Media foundations cardstock and poured water on top. I dropped in coordinating watercolors from Prima and let it dry. Once dry, I applied Liquitex modeling paste through a star confetti stencil to create even more texture and interest on the background. I trimmed wedges from an ombre rainbow hearts paper in my Bloom Street collection and stitched them to the edges to create a colorful border to help keep your eyes on the layout and not wander off the edges.
To finish, I added three photos around the title, wrote journaling across the bottom with a Zig pen, and applied heart stickers from Bloom Street, tone-on-tone to provide different pops of texture on the letters. I hope this layout inspires you to use this birthday cut file and celebrate the ones you love! Happy birthday, SCT!

Wow! Great companies to help celebrate your Birthday!! Love reading your posts and getting ideas. If it was my Birthday I would love adhesive. Being at home right now I have been catching up on my projects and am almost out.
My scrap fairy godmother could leave me a cuttlebug or alternative plus some dies to get started with and an outline alphabet. Alternatively I would also love a Tim Holtz grab bag with a bunch of items curated by Tim. Or a prize package from American crafts. Really just anything to help with my cardmaking and project life albums!
Thank you for the week long Blog posts that brighten our days. What I would love to receive from my “Scrap Fairy Godmother” is ORGANIZATION! LOL. Just have my scrappy place nicely organized. Happy Birthday!
For my birthday, I’d love a subscription to a kit club! I used to have one but had to stop it because of finances. :(
For my birthday, I want the scrap fairy to gift me a kit club subscription!
Happy birthday and thank you for all the inspiration! If the fairy scrapmother was to give me a gift it would be Pinkfresh’s new alphabet dies that have the thin shadow with them- that’s my #1 favorite right now!
I’m currently in need of adhesive and I’d love for the Scrap Fairy Godmother to also leave me some more dog themed paper!!
Thanks so much for a week of wonderful celebration! If the “ scrap fairy godmother “ left me a present I would absolutely love an entire collection of copic markers and prisma color pencils????
Love the layout! I am currently in desperate need of glue dots for a project so please Fairy Godmother bring me some! Thanks for a fun week of ideas, and all the sponsors for the amazing prizes.
I’d love to have a subscription to SCT!
A beautiful layout by Paige. I love the combination of cool and bright colours. Hmm if I could have one thing from the scrap fairy godmother I would have to say adhesive. I’ve done a lot of creating lately so I am running low. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the positivity and amazing inspiration at this time; it was much needed!
Love the page! And I would love the SCT fairy godmother to gift me with the sampler subscription!
This has been an awesome week of inspiration. Thank you so much. I would like the scrap fairy godmother to leave a subscription to SCT magazine.
Oh what a beautiful layout and fun cut file! Such a fun week of inspiration – Happy 14th Birthday!
I would love for the fairy scrapbook godmother to leave me a 12 x 12 Misti. I want to use stamps more on my pages and the Misti will help me with direct stamping on the pages.
Hi Scrapbook! I would love to win this and a yearlong subscriotion to your awesome magazine! My bday is in April so it would be purrfect!
Hi for my birthday I love the scrap fairy godmother to leave my all kinds of adhesives
Paige, that is a fabulous creation. Dear Scrap Fairy Godmother…we haven’t talked lately, so here is what is going on with me…I am always after stamps with matching dies, new papers, embellishments and new inks, and still want to get some blending brushes, but lately I have such a desire to also acquire stencils, and layering dies to help me make interesting card fronts. Drop by and wave your magic wand for me, Anytime! :)
If it were my birthday, and the scrappy fairy were to give me a gift, I am down to glue as an adhesive. I could order some double sided tape on Amazon, but am trying to save money.
What a lovely layout!! If the scrap fairy godmother came to me, I would like the lawn fairy magic iris dies and accessories. Happy Birthday SCT!!!
I love Paige’s cuts, and she is so generous in sharing them. Happy birthday and thanks for the opportunity to participate.
I would love the Birthday fairy to bring me lots of embellishments! Washi tape, enamel dots, wooden elements etc!
Bonjour
I like the word raised on the card and the colors make it very festive. Simple and pleasant.
Great CÉLÉBRATION HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Thank you again for these giveaway.
Merci
Yolande
First of all this layout is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!! If I could get a gift from the Scrap Fairy Godmother it would either be a Laminator or the Lawn Fawn New Iris dies! Thank you for this fun week!
It’s a beautiful layout! It’s a happy page.
Happy Birthday!
I love this page, that cut file is soooooo NICE! Thanks!
Scrap Fairy Godmother, I will like LF Iris dies set, or stamps, ink, glue, everything crafty!
Happy Birthday!
A magazine subscription would be a fun gift from the Scrappy Fairy!
I would love for her to bring me some stamps–Hello Bluebird, Your Next Stamp (the pigs flying set), and some other favorites. A BIG die cutting machine would be great if she can carry something so big and heavy :)
What an amazing layout! I can’t wait to try one myself!! What a wonderful week of celebration during such a difficult time. I would want adhesives. I am way too practical I guess but I always want things I need and will use for my birthday.
Someone to finish organizing my craft room would be a great gift but I would love to get an electronic die cutting machine.
Beautiful page!
For my birthday (which is coming up next month..ahem) I would love more time to create…but the fairy could give me an electronic die cutter/embosser like a vagabond. Tired of turning the crank. Also, drop a load of patience on me to figure out this new Cricut Explore Air II so I can get down to business instead of trying to figure it out each and every time. Honestly, starting to love my Gypsy more and more. The transition has been difficult.
I would love the adhesives. Love the idea today.
Thank you for asking us to celebrate your SCT birthday this week! I would love the Fairy Scrapmother to swish her wand and a paper organizer would appear! Take Care and Be Safe!
With my birthday being on April 9th getting one of the prizes would be a great surprise! I would love to get a cricuit as I can’t afford one myself, but really anything geared for card making would be wonderful. I scrapbook a little & just started my first junk journal, but card making is my real passion.
Beautiful layout and thanks
for the file! I’d love for the
Scrap Fairy to leave me a
Cricut Maker for my birthday!
Fun week and Happy Birthday.

Paige you did it again!! This layout is beautiful. Also, I can’t get over all the little corners where you added the extra small papers that were different than your larger pieces. I love. That attention to detail!

What awesome prizes….so much fun seeing new products and imagining winning them! As for my fairy godmother, I love my craft room but my dream is to have a larger space so that I can have a huge craft table in the center of the room under the perfect lighting. And of course more time to spend there!
Paige=colorful vibrant creative layouts! E V E R Y L A Y O U T is art.
I wish my scrapbooking fairy godmother might deliver complete meal systems including grocery getting & clean up, laundry service & yard/lawn worker, so basically, I could not have to worry about that stuff, or feel guilty about not taking care of it and create for hours at a time. (is that too much to wish for?)
Wonderful Giveaway package.
