Hi there! It’s Nathalie with you today to share a bit of inspiration using the October 2020 Sampler. I am sure many of you are already subscribers to the SCT Sampler. This small-monthly package of paper crafting goodies is amazing. It brings a small taste of the latest products in the market while providing lots of inspiration. I love my monthly sampler, and the October Sampler is fall perfection! What better way to showcase it all than to create an interactive mini-album (and yes, I made a mini!)
Supplies | SCT Sampler October 2020; SCT Fall 2020 Issue bonus content: printable cards; Chipboard, kraft paper, vellum, white cardstock: Bazzill; Acetate: American Crafts; Pocket Punch Board: We R Memory Keepers; Trim: Michaels; Ink: Ranger; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Sequins: Michaels
As soon as I saw the selection of patterned papers from Simple Stories and Doodlebug Designs, I wanted to use them all to document my fall favorites in a fun format. Once I decided to curate my memories in a mini-album, I needed to create the base for my album.
The size of the mini was dictated by the Simple Stories Cozy Days collection chipboard frame that was included in my Sampler. Since the frame was meant for two photos, I trimmed it in half and used it to build my shaker box cover, and as a reference for the album’s size: a 4” x 5” cover with a 2.25” spine. Inside, the album has 8 signatures with a 0.25” binding allowance – this allowed all of the interactive elements in the album’s pages.
Once the album was built, the inside pages were a joy to put together. I started my title page by blending ink to create an ombre effect on the page. While the ink dried. I used the same inks to stamp a few of the Hero Arts Stamp florals included in my Sampler. The beautiful acrylic “fall” word is the focus of the page nicely framed by all the stamped images.
The rest of the pages in the album are all interactive. I tried my best to use every little inch of paper from the sampler in the album, and simple interactive pages can be built with small pieces of paper. All but one of the layouts are interactive.
Besides the patterned papers in the Sampler, I also added a few printable cards to my album using the fall journaling card set from the fall 2020 issue. This was a great way to stretch my Sampler and add lots of journaling in a clean way on my pages. You can watch a quick walk-through of the completed album in the following video. Enjoy!
I hope this inspires you to check out a SCT Sampler subscription! You are going to love this small happy package of the trendiest papercrafting goodies at your doorstep every month!
