I have a video over on the SCT Magazine YouTube channel that shows off this card process in detail which you can view down below or click HERE to go to YouTube!

We’ve had warmer temperatures lately and it has me so excited for spring and my flower bushes. This led me to choose one of my favorite all time sets, Gracious Peonies. This stamp set has a coordinating die and layering stencil that makes it easy to color in the image.

I go over everything in detail in my video but, let me highlight some key points here.

One of the first things I do when I receive a stamp with a layering stencil is stamp the image in a light color like Limestone using my Misti tool. After I stamp it, I make sure to leave the stamp in place inside the Misti. Where would I be without that Misti? It has been a lifesaver!

Next, I use my Tonic Magnetic platform to hold my stencil in place over the stamped cardstock. I’ll use one of the new sets of Fresh Dye Inks from Altenew. These new inks are in the shape of a circle instead of the classic Altenew oval shape and have a twist off top, which I am super excited for! They still come in four layering colors which is one of things that drew me to Altenew in the beginning of my crafty journey.

For the peonies, I used a large flat blending brush to ink blend on color from the Blue Mountains ink set. I also like to bring in a small ink blending brush and/or mini ink blending brush to add detail into the image with darker colors.

For the leaves, I’m using the new Frosted Foliage ink set. Because the leaves only have one layer, I add in a darker shade of ink to give it a little dimension.

Once the ink blending is done, I bring it back to my Misti to stamp the image again in Versafine Black Ink and then use the coordinating die to cut it out with my Spellbinders Platinum 6. This would make a great one layer card, but I am a huge fan of die cutting my images to make them pop off the card.

To finish this design, I used a sentiment from the Versatile Greetings die set cut from Brushed Gold cardstock and a smaller sentiment from the Gracious Peonies stamp set stamped in black. I then added in embellishment using Concord & 9th clear dew drops and Connect glue.

I love how this image is large enough to take up a whole A2 card front. The layering stencils make it super easy and quick to color in these beautiful petals!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card inspiration and will give some of these inky techniques a try using the Altenew Fresh Dye Inks! Be sure to catch the video for more details, and thanks so much for joining me today!
