Hello, this is Nathalie, and I am here to share with you how I was inspired by the latest issue of SCT Magazine! I love how each issue can trigger so many creative ideas and the spring issue is no exception. Upon seeing Cathy Harper’s project in the Inspiration Gallery on page 73, I wanted to do something fun with an embroidery hoop. I also have a little friend’s birthday coming up so I thought about making a loaded hoop just for her. Let’s take a look at Cathy’s original project:SCT-Magazine-Spring-2020-Issue-Cathy-Harper-01

And here is the birthday hoop that I created:

Supplies | Patterned paper, shape stickers, pre-made die-cut shapes, button, clothespin, sequins, gems, twine, doilies: Doodlebug Design’s Hey Cupcake collection; Tools: We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool; Adhesive: Tombow; Other: misc. ribbons, embroidery hoop, page protector, paper clip, shaped sequins.

I happened to have the brand new Hey Cupcake collection from Doodlebug Design which is one of the 10 Most Wanted Essentials from the spring issue on page 12! It has the sweetest icons and was perfect to make this small gift!

My favorite element is the shaker pocket in the front. It’s a half moon shape cut out of a page protector, filled with sequins and sealed with the We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool. It was then glued to the top edge of the hoop which allows you to add a variety of small goodies inside. I included a couple of cute packages along with doilies and mini cards from the 6 x 6 Hey Cupcake paper pad. I didn’t have any on hand but you could replace these goodies with some cute candy, too

Finally, I decorated the front of the hoop with dimensional Hey Cupcake collection Doodle-Pop stickers, gems, die-cuts and ribbons making sure that I had texture and depth—not to mention playful colors!

I wish I could see the face of my young recipient when she opens her happy mail!
