Hello SCT friends! It’s Wendy Sue here today and I’m excited to share my latest layout with you! With fall in full swing, I’ve been loving all of the colorful autumn décor – especially the wreaths! I’ve even spotted a few fun wreaths on paper crafted projects. They are so beautiful! At first glance, they may seem labor-intensive or even overwhelming to create, so today I’m going to break it down and show you how easy they can be! Here’s a peek at my layout featuring a fall wreath. Keep reading to see how to make your own!

Start by cutting out a bunch of leaves. You can hand-cut them or use die-cuts. Mine are actually cut with metal dies. I used a few different sets for a fun variety of leaves. Be sure to cut several fall colors as well! For this layout, I used papers from the “Hello Autumn” collection from Carta Bella Paper.

Next, you’ll want to create the background for your layout. I layered a few papers from the Hello Autumn collection from Carta Bella Paper, and then I added a vellum circle to the center. The vellum circle is the key for making your wreath shape; plus the vellum mutes the background design so the photo in the center really pops on the finished product!

It’s time to start building the wreath! I started with three green leaves and I placed them in a triangular shape around the vellum circle. Next, I added a yellow leaf next to each green leaf. Then I added dark orange, then red, etc. You’ll notice the wreath basically building itself as you continue to add leaves around the circle!

When you’re happy with the shape, go ahead and start gluing the leaves down. I used a drop of liquid glue near the stem of each leaf. I ended up adding a few leaves here and there to fill in spaces and get the final look I was pleased with. I also added some “falling leaves” outside of the wreath shape and a few coordinating enamel dots too!

I finished the layout by adding a photo and a fun fall tag.

I loved making this fall wreath for the background on my layout and I hope you’ll try it too! If you do, be sure to share it with us on social media by tagging us @ScrapbookandCardsToday on Facebook and @sctmagazine on Instagram, and using the hashtag #sctmagazine!
