Happy Friday! We are so excited to be back with you here on the SCT blog! We’ve missed sharing inspiration and ideas with you over the past two weeks as we got our website moved to a new, larger host. While unexpected, we already see a better, faster site! But what better way to come back than with an amazing post by our Creative Editor, Paige Evans, and an amazing giveaway. Let’s take a look at what our friends from American Crafts have in store for us!

Hi everyone! It’s Paige Evans here, and I’m so excited to share a new layout with you made using my Bungalow Lane collection with American Crafts.
Many of the papers in Bungalow Lane have a quilted vibe. The little geometric shapes remind me of fabric pieces and what goes hand-in-hand with quilting? Hand stitching! It’s no secret that I absolutely love to hand stitch on my projects. So that’s exactly what I did here—I stitched an entire piece of Paper 18 with all of the little patterned triangles.
I poked holes about 1/4″ apart around every triangle and then spent about eight hours doing a basic backstitch with coordinating colors of embroidery floss. I always use all six strands of thread when I’m hand stitching for the ultimate thickness and texture. I didn’t want to cover up a ton of the stitching to really let it shine, so I printed my photo at 3″ square, trimmed it out to leave a white border for contrast against the busy background, and adhered it to the very center so the background becomes a frame.
When it came time to embellish, I added lots and lots of layers of all kinds of embellishments found in Bungalow Lane: cardstock stickers, chipboard stickers, layered stickers, epoxy stickers, floral die cuts, washi tape, and even a little birdie paper clip! It’s almost like a little treasure hunt finding all the little clues and icons that enhance the theme of the photo: home, love, and kittens!

I love Paige Evans and this Bungalow collection. Her hand stitching is awesome but way out of my league. My favorite thing about Fall is all the beautiful leaf colors and warm apple cider.
Wow, that is a lot of stitching. But very effective. What I like about Fall is sitting in the California sunshine with great friends at the Cal football games.
The best part of fall for me is the smells. The air with the burning wood from chimney & other fires. The rains after a long hot summer has a wonderful smell. Our eyes have all the beautiful shades of green, orange, reds and many more colors. Fall is a magical time of the year

Fall here on Kodiak Island, Alaska, isn’t so much about the reds and oranges of maples and oaks – we have mostly Sitka Spruce trees here. As I look out my window I see the yellow-orange-ish glow of wild rose bushes, and the huge bright red rose hips on them, the red of fireweed, and the fading yellow of salmonberry bush leaves. It’s more subtle, but it’s fall!

My favorite thing about fall is the cooler temps/lower humidity. Love when we can finally break out our sweaters and long-sleeve shirts here in South Texas!

Fall is my favorite time of year because I love all the comfort foods like chili and meatloaf. Wearing comfy sweaters and oversized hoodies are so perfect for ventures outside like apple picking, corn mazes and bonfires!
