Hi there!  I’m so excited to be here, sharing a couple of cards with you for the Card Cafe feature! Autumn is definitely my favorite season!  Today I will be sharing a couple of cards that were inspired by my favorite things about this season; the rich colors and rustic textures!

When using bold colored focal images, especially if they have added texture, I like to add them to a white or another neutral colored background.  I just like the way they seem to “pop” and how the eye is drawn to them.  For this card, I chose a white background.  Because I wanted lots of texture, I splattered the background with some gold paint.

To create the leaves, I painted a quick watercolor wash onto watercolor paper.  After the paint was dry, I splattered on some coordinating but darker paint to give it texture.  I die cut the leaves from the Mega Leaves Die Set from Taylored Expressions.  For even more texture, I added just a bit of gold glitter to one edge of the leaves.

Thankful For You Card Supplies  Taylored Expressions; Mega Leaves Die Set, Frame in Frame Cutting Plate, One & Only You Stamp and Die Combo  Paper: Papertrey Ink; Stamper’s Select White, Kraft Gold Metallic (Gina K. Designs)   Ink: Dark Chocolate (Gina K. Designs)  Other: Watercolor paints (Kuretake Gansai Tambi), Wow! Gold Glitter (American Crafts), Sequins

I adhered the leaves, using dimensional foam (again, it’s all about the texture) onto a die cut frame cut from Tayolored Expression’s Frame in Frame Cutting Plate.  I stamped the “thankful FOR” sentiment using a dark brown ink and then paired it with the coordinating “you” die cut (both are from the One & Only You Stamp and Die Combo by Taylored Expressions).

For my next card, I brought in similar textures but took some liberties with the colors.  I started with a simple dark teal watercolor wash.  Again, I splattered some darker ink onto the background for added texture.

I die cut twelve leaves out of three different colors using the Mini Leaves die set from Taylored Expressions.   I arranged the leaves in the shape of a wreath and adhered them to the card using dimensional foam.

Just like on my first card, I stamped the first part of the sentiment and then added the coordinating die cut to finish it off.  Before adhering the “you” die cut, I added gold glitter to the lower half.   For embellishment, I added wooden hearts and some rustic string.

It’s so easy to create extra dimension by adding different textures to your cards!  Paint, glitter, scored die cut images, embellishments, and even just popping your images up with dimensional foam are all great ways to add extra texture to your creations!

Thank you to Scrapbook & Cards Today for the opportunity to share my creations with you!  And thank you very much for joining me here today!
