Hi everyone! Melissa Phillips here today and I am so excited to get to you join you for Card Cafe Thursday! I've got a couple of fun cards to share with you that are all about utilizing dies with your favorite paper-crafting supplies including patterned paper, vellum, cork, etc.
With spring right around the corner, my butterfly dies are getting a lot of use. I used multiple layers of patterned paper to add plenty of character and dimension to my butterfly and layered it over a die cut vellum tag which was then layered over a chipboard frame.
Felt and cork die cut hearts were used to embellish the center of my butterfly along with button twine. A die cut doily in the background provided some softness and helped add to the shabby feel I was hoping to achieve with this card.
Across the bottom I layered a gold foil sticker over a strip of tea-stained twill and vintage trim and stitched them in place using my sewing machine. I love the homespun feel that machine stitching gives.
The Sizzix Originals Houses die is one of my current favorites right now along with the Sizzix Hearts #3, and Tags #5 dies.
I die cut my large tag from gold foil vellum from Crate Paper, just as in my first card and layered it over a second tag that had been embossed to add texture. I then stitched on my die cut house and roof, cut from some playful and fun patterns.
Lastly, just a few Crate Paper rubons to bring in some springy florals, a junk bow tied at the top that uses fabric and trim scraps, and a bit of stamping down the side.
Dies are so versatile and can fit any style and theme you're in the mood for 🙂
