Hello and Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!
Nathalie DeSousa with you today with my first blog post as part of the SCT Design Team, and right on time to celebrate Valentine’s Day. There is nothing sweeter than creating a card for your loved ones, especially when they come together in a short amount of time.
For this card, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the background, using the “heart is full background” JustNick Studio cut file. Two cutouts were created from white cardstock and the third one from gold shimmer white cardstock. These were glued together (with the shimmer cardstock as the top layer) to form a dimensional die cut. Each heart was then backed with papers from the Kissing Booth collection from Simple Stories, and then a piece of vellum was glued to the bottom of the die cut.
I used Pop Dots under some of the heart to attach it to a piece of white cardstock. To pop the colours of the papers, a piece of paper from the Kissing Booth collection (cut slightly larger to frame the cardstock) was layered between the front panel and a base card created to fit the front design.
A simple sentiment was then added to the bottom of the heart background (from the Kissing Booth Sticker sheet) along with a small puffy heart. To finish the card, a few shimmer white sequins were added, and then I used my envelope punch to create a matching envelope for the card.
Thank you so much for joining me today! Hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day, and if you made your own Valentine’s Day cards, remember to share with us your creations by tagging us @sctmagazine or use the hashtag #sctmagazine

This is such a pretty card! I love this cut file. :)
Too cute! Thanks for the chance to win.
Such a pretty card! ❤️
For the life of me I have no idea how you cut the hearts separately on the silhouette. Please help me do this today as I started to make this card…thank you.
hi Debra, to cut the inside hearts separately to back the hearts, first you have to release the compound path of the cut file ( this will separate each piece as a single image). Next, you will need to isolate the hearts (delete all the other lines that are not the little hearts). You will now need to create an offset of the hearts – for this you will need to separate the hearts a bit, highlight them all, and then use the offset command to create an image a bit larger of each heart-. You will need, now, to delete the original hearts so that only the offset hearts are the ones being cut. I usually group the hearts at this point to cut them out of a particular paper. It is not a single step process, unfortunately, and i will suggest- if you are not comfortable with the Silhouette software -that you use the negative hearts to create the hearts from patterned paper. Let me know if that helped…
Fabulous card Nathalie,
