Hello Scrapbook & Cards Today readers! Kimberly Crawford here and I am thrilled to be sharing in the Card Café with you today! I am currently having an obsession with all things copper! The color is perfect for fall cards, especially with Thanksgiving quickly approaching!

In the copper color, I found this new-to-me product called wax paste. Wax paste is a paste that you can apply to just about any surface to add a metallic shine. I used it two different ways on my cards today and I cannot wait to share how to create these beautiful looks!

On my first card, I added the wax paste to an intricately die cut piece of card stock.

Once the image was cut, I applied the paste to the surface of my card stock with a paintbrush. Wax paste can be layered. You can add a very light coat, or make the entire piece of paper a solid copper color. For this die cut frame, I opted for the lighter look.

When using the wax paste, please protect your work surface as it will stain your cutting mat or countertop. It will take about 15 minutes to dry.

Here you can see the different between the basic card stock and the paper where the wax was applied.

The detail it brings out is beautiful!

Knowing that the wax brings out embossed details in die cut images, I wondered how it would work on heat embossed stamped images…it works well!

To create the subtle plaid copper background on this card, I began by heat embossing my image with clear powder. You could repeat the process for more depth, or even use ultra thick embossing powder. Anything to raise the stamped image from the card stock.

You can see where the wax paste was applied to the raised edges. While I used a paintbrush for the die cut frame, for this, I used my finger. I feel it gives me more control. You will get the wax paste in the non-embossed areas, but I think it adds to the shine.

Who is ready to add shine to their cards this fall? And for those already making holiday cards, the wax paste comes in gold and silver, along with other colors!

Thank you for hanging out with me today!
