Card Cafe with Melissa Phillips!

Card Cafe with Melissa Phillips!

Good morning SCT friends!  We are always excited when Melissa Phillips joins us. Always a master at creating the most beautiful cards, we think you'll love what Melissa shares today!

"Hello there!  Melissa Phillips here with a couple of cards to share with you for a Card Cafe feature!  I've pulled out some fun, new products and set to work using one of my current favorite coloring techniques.

Sctcardcafe2

I started with the new Best Buds stamp set from Paper Smooches and after stamping my images in black ink, I added color using Prima watercolor pencils and my Gelatos.

Sctcardcafe3

After my cardstock had dried, I added a bit more color, by using a paper towel and lightly rubbing it into the tip of my Gelato and then smudging the color in circular motions around each stamped surface, changing the color as I went along to coordinate with the colors used in my stamped images.  I love the soft, blending effect this creates.

I used the same technique here on my second card, using images from the Paper Smooches Twiggy Florets stamp set.

I pulled in a few fun elements from the June and July OHDEERME Embellishment kits from Freckled Fawn, such as the enamel dots, word stickers, wood chip sunshine, and office tags.

There are so many ways to bring color and personality to your stamped images, and right now, Gelatos and watercolors are right at the top of my list.   Hope you'll give this playful technique a try!"
