………………………….

Hello, SCT friends! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today and I’m excited to share what I created with a new-to-me collection, One of a Kind by My Mind’s Eye! This collection is a celebration of women—women of all colours, shapes and sizes, which I just love, and perfectly represents the women in my life! I started this layout with a favorite photo of myself and my two besties, and created an 8-½” x 11” layout using the One of a Kind paper and accessories pack, along with my favourite alphabet stamp from Elle’s Studio:

Don’t you just love those beautiful colours? The warm hues mixed with that powder blue and navy just make me happy! I loved each of the patterns in this paper pack, so I decided to make the most of them by choosing the pink and cream art deco pattern for my page background, then added a band of the “the future is female” yellow paper at the bottom. I also added three different patterns to bring all of the colors on this layout behind my image.

My next step after matting my photo was to create my title—always one of my favourite parts of the creative process! I loved the “one of a kind” phrase from the collection, so I fussy cut the phrase from the manufacturer’s cardstock page at the front of the paper pack to start off my title. To contrast that beautiful scripted font, I stamped the word “friends” using the large, sans-serif Elle’s Studio Large Jane Alphabet Stamp—my favourite alphabet stamp—in the same coral colour as the patterned paper that I stamped the letters on. Then, I fussy cut the letters out to add to my page, but you could also use the matching metal dies, too!

Below my title, I wanted to add a fun band of embellishment, and I did that using the One of a Kind cardstock stickers! I started with the woman sticker, which pointed perfectly toward my title and photo above, then added different circle, rainbow and floral stickers, adding dimensional adhesive to some. I also punched a tiny heart from Close to My Heart Sapphire cardstock to add that contrast at the base of the page.

I wanted a large heart to house my journaling, but because I’m currently without my die-cutting machine, I grabbed my scissors and created my own. I cut the first heart from the blue floral pattern first, then traced that onto Sapphire cardstock, and cut a second heart. I adhered them together offset, so that the dark blue heart looked like a large shadow. I printed my journaling and cut out strips, adding them to the top of the heart, which I adhered using dimensional adhesive on the right side of my photo.

To add some interest and perceived texture, I grabbed my watercolor paint palette and water brush, loading it up with dark blue paint before flicking droplets around my page. In these areas I also added enamel dots and additional stickers, like these fun arrows pointing to my journaling, which I added “stitches” to using a light blue pen. These little touches finished off my layout, and I shifted to creating cards—after seeing all of the amazing sentiments on the sticker sheet, I knew that I could also create perfect cards for my girlfriends with these supplies!

I had so much fun creating these designs, featuring the vibrant colours from the kit with clean, white backgrounds!

When a friend is going through a difficult time, letting them know that they have your support is so important! On this card, I started with the female figure sticker, adding dimensional adhesive behind, then added the “you got this” heart, so that it appeared she was holding it. A fun grouping of banners, half circles and flowers flowing from the top left corner brings your eye to the sentiment, and the baker’s twine adds texture. It was a simple card to create, but I know it will bring happiness to a friend.

I just loved the patterned paper from the One of a Kind paper and accessories pack which showcased women of all colours, and I started this card by fussy cutting three of them from the page, adding them to the base of my white cardstock. Because this was such a bold feature on the card, I didn’t add much more! I cut a ¼” strip of red patterned paper, adding it to the top third of the card, then added the “your potential is endless,” sticker to the top center using dimensional adhesive. To finish off this design, I added three floral stickers around the sentiment, and a puffy heart sticker at the bottom.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing just some of the creative possibilities using the My Mind’s Eye One of A Kind collection today—the perfect assortment of products to celebrate ALL women, our friendships together, and how we lift each other up! Thanks so much for joining me, and happy creating!
