Can you believe it is already time for our Winter 2020 Issue challenge week? We are so excited to kick off a week of challenges, inspiration, and prizes today, to celebrate not only the release of our newest issue on Friday, December 4th, but also our new winter SCT Delivered kit! We’re starting off this celebration with a mood board for your Monday, and a beautiful layout to go with it by Erica Thompson!

Hey friends! It’s Erica here with you today to kick off our challenge week! We are so excited about the release of the winter 2020 issue this Friday! Today’s challenge is a mood board and this one is just beautiful. The colors and patterns in this mood board are just perfect and I had so much fun using this as my inspiration for my layout.

As soon as I saw this beautiful mood board, I knew I had to pull out my Let It Snow scrapbook kit from last December! This kit had the perfect paper to use for my background by Crate Paper that reminded me of the top right photo on the mood board! I trimmed this paper down just a little on each side so that I could distress the edges for some texture and mat it on a pretty light blue pattern paper from the Let It Snow kit. Matting it on this paper helps to frame the layout and just adds another pop to the page.

I really loved the image of the envelopes from the mood board and wanted to incorporate that on my page. I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and created an envelope out of some soft pink cardstock from my stash. This punch board is one of my favorites and can be used for so many different projects. I distressed the edges of my envelope to add texture and to match the distressing around the edges of my layout.

The photos are from a fun hot cocoa bar photoshoot I did with my son Eli and my friends’ daughter! This was the first time these two have ever met and they hit it off right away! They had so much fun and I love how these photos turned out! I printed them out in black and white and think they look great against these soft colors. I wanted to stuff the envelope with the photos and tuck in different embellishments around the photos!

It is hard to see in the photos, but there is so much dimension going on, and I love it! I placed some of the embellishments on the outside of the envelope, as well as the inside, and love the layered look. The Crate Paper Snowflake collection has some fun die cuts with foil, and I thought a touch of gold would be a fun element to add to the page to help it sparkle.

To create my title, I used American Crafts gold word Thickers from my stash and added them to the envelope. For a third pop of gold I pulled out my beloved Heidi Swapp Color Shine and added some splatters. It is a small detail, but it really does add so much to the page and makes you want to just move the page around to see all the sparkle! Do not be afraid to add some sparkle to your project!

To finish off my layout I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers typewriter to type out my journaling. I like to cut my journaling up into strips and add it to my page.
