How many times have you made a page at a crop or in a class and packed it away with the best intentions of ‘I’ll just add the journaling later’? Not today, my sparkly friends! We will start by creating layered (and perhaps sparkly!) embellishments in the happiest colour palette of pink, purple, turquoise, and navy as we construct a 12×12 scrapbook page together but we’ll also talk about the beautiful – but sometimes intimidating – art of writing. Writing about ourselves. No shying away: I know you sparkle and whether you’re bold or subtle about it, we’re going to capture your spirit in words to make something extra special. Between extra examples of pages with the same techniques and a list of potential writing topics for your future drafts, you’ll leave class inspired to keep making your pages both striking and meaningful. (All use of glitter is totally optional, I promise.)
Student supply list: (this list may be updated 30 days before the class)
- 12” paper trimmer
- small foam squares/pop dots
- favourite general adhesive
- journaling pens you like (I use black or grey but others are welcome too!)
- optional grey ink + ink applicator
Photo requirements: EITHER 1 or 2 4×6 portrait images, 1 4×6 landscape image, 2 3×4 landscape images, or 1, 2, or 3 3×4 portrait images. OF YOURSELF. There is plenty of flexibility in the size and number of photos, so choose what suits you best from those options, but please ensure the photo includes you. It can be your face, your feet, or your whole self. It can be recent or years ago. As long as it’s you and you’re happy to have it on your desk during class!
