We are so excited to welcome a new guest to the SCT blog today, Victoria Calvin! Victoria’s always-inspiring designs can be found on 12” x 12” and 8-½” x 11” layouts, as well as on cards, and her super-sharp sense of design keeps us going back to her social media feeds for more inspiration! We were excited to feature a layout of Victoria’s in the summer issue on page 31, and today, she’s here to share a fun way to maximize the number of photos that you can fit on your layouts! Let’s see what she has to share with us today!

Hello SCT friends! It’s Victoria, and I am so excited to share a fun layout featuring a photo collage and a bit of fun layering.

Supplies | Patterned paper: American Crafts; Die Cuts: Hip Kit Club; Stickers: American Crafts and Simple Stories; Chipboard Stickers: Simple Stories; Gems: Pink Paislee

To begin, I created a 12 x 12-inch background using patterned paper from the Here and Now Collection by Dear Lizzy and American Crafts. Next, I arranged three 3.5 x 5.0-inch photos in a collage in the center of the layout.  I layered each photo with coordinating patterned paper from the Here and Now Collection by Dear Lizzy. Under the photo collage, I positioned two strips of patterned paper for added interest. TIP: Creating a photo collage is a great way to use more than two photos on a 12 x 12-inch layout and to maximize the space needed for a title and embellishments!

Once the photos were in place, I added a title using the foam stickers “Killin’ It” from the Kate and Ash Collection by Simple Stories. This phrase could not have been more perfect for the theme of my layout, which features my daughter participating in a fashion show at our local Justice for Girls store!

Next, I created small clusters of embellishments: one toward the top of the layout, along with a second foam word, “Fab” from the Kate and Ash Collection by Simple Stories; and two more layered clusters on the right and left of the photo collage using exclusive die cuts from the Hip Kit Club. I completed the layered clusters with gems from the 5th and Monaco Collection by Pink Paislee and chipboard elements from the Kate and Ash Collection.

A typed journaling block printed on vellum was added to the bottom of the layout along with a sticker label from the Dear Lizzy Here and Now Collection.
