Welcome crafty friends! It’s Mindy Eggen with you today to share some inspiration using tips from the Design 101 article found in the Summer 2022 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today.

I was particularly drawn to the project by Paige Evans and the first line I read was “Go crazy for colour.” You don’t have to tell me twice! I love adding tons of color to my cards.

Supplies | Cardstock, stencil: Gina K Designs; Ink, blending brushes, glitter cardstock: The Stamp Market; Die: Concord & 9th; Adhesive: Honey Bee Stamps, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares

In my card project, I’m using almost the entire rainbow by ink blending on the Flower Garden stencil from Gina K. Designs using blending brushes and inks from The Stamp Market.

Crazy for colour? Check!

The next piece of inspiration from Paige’s project was “Go big or go home.” I immediately thought of a sentiment that takes up the entire front of a card.

For this I’m using the Concord & 9th Triple-Step Hi Die die cut from white cardstock and adding a shadow layer with Diamond Glitter cardstock. While it pained me a little to cover up such beautiful glitter cardstock, I really do love the subtlety of it. Just the glitter itself was almost too much for such a delicate design.

I could have left the card as-is with the large sentiment but I wanted to let the recipient  know more of a specific reason why I was sending the card. I used the Mixed Messages Strips from Gina K Designs to further my message.

I love getting inspiration from other designers. Paige shared many great tips in the article and you can choose to use a couple or all of them, based on what you want to create.

Thanks so much for joining me today!
