Welcome to the SCT blog! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today. With the Crop & Create fall schedule in full swing at the moment, I thought it was definitely time to document my Crop & Create experience in Toronto earlier this year, and I’d love to share my project with you today!

Supplies | *(included in the Crop and Create Exclusive Spring 2017 Kit) *Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper: Crate Paper, Pink Paislee; Die-cuts: American Crafts; Glitter word Thickers: Pink Paislee; Enamel Dots: Pinkfresh Studio; Buttons: Doodlebug. *(Additional supplies)* Alphabet Stickers: Studio Calico

I began my documentation by creating a 12″ x 12″ traditional layout, featuring two photos, both a horizontal and a vertical, which can be quite tricky to design for. When I saw the Pink Paislee frame patterned paper in the Exclusive Spring 2017 Kit, it reminded me of the “Toronto 2017” frame I was holding from my Crop & Create photo, and that sparked my idea for the design of the page. I fussy cut seven of the frames from the paper, taking the central phrase out of each one, and flipping that cutout over on two of the frames to reveal the patterned paper behind. I arranged the frames askew, and in a way so that the stark difference between the horizontal and vertical images was minimized. The colors in the frames mimic the colors in the background of my photos, which was exactly as I had hoped! I added my photos to the top of the frames with dimensional adhesive, and gave them a white photo mat to help them stand out from the colorful background.

Because there was so much color and pattern in the frames behind my photos, there wasn’t much embellishment needed. A triangle of clusters of die-cuts, glitter hearts, enamel dots and buttons was all that was required. To ground the page, I added strips of patterned paper to the bottom edge, which also created a “shelf” on which to place my title, created with glitter Thicker words and smaller alphabet stickers.

I had SO many photos I wanted to document from that weekend that I created a 6″ x 12″ pocket page, to be placed alongside my layout in the album.

These pockets housed the details about the weekend—the dates, who I met, what we ate, what I packed and so on, allowing my layout to be clean and simple, but still documenting all of the important facts on the following page! These pocket cards were simple to create with the scraps of patterned paper and cardstock from my Spring 2017 Kit, along with a few 3″ x 4″ cards from my stash.

On the back of the pocket page, I had a spare 4″ x 4″ pocket that I placed my name tag in—I love having bits of ephemera in my pockets! I also created a custom 3″ x 4″ tag with white cardstock and a scrap of patterned paper, which I typed extra journaling onto.

I’m so happy to have this awesome weekend documented in my album. Knowing how many of you have attended the amazing Crop & Create events this year, I hope you’ve been inspired to document your crafting weekends with SCT, too! Happy creating!
