Hi, friends! It’s Jess Forster here and I am excited to be on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog today. It’s May, which means that summer travel plans are in full swing! With so many adventures on the horizon, I want to share with you how I document my vacation photos in record time. Hint: I create traditional layouts with coordinating pocket pages!

Today, in part one, I am sharing a process video of how I put together my 12 x 12-inch traditional page from our 2019 trip to Prince Edward Island on Canada’s east coast. Whenever I document my travels, I often scrapbook by breaking down my trip into sections, creating pages focused on the events of the days and places we visited. Using the beautiful bold designs of the Simple Stories Here + There collection, I decided to scrapbook our first-day memories driving around the south part of the island.

As a page opener, I decided to highlight the story from Argyle Shore Provincial Park. I loved the rainbow “Travel Therapy“ paper and decided to use that as my background. This will serve as my coordinating colour scheme for my pocket page.  I layered this with white cardstock and a 6 x 8-inch piece of navy paper from the paper pack on top and used the colour corner squares from the journaling tags to define the white space.

Using the two 3 x 3-inch chipboard frames as my guide, I printed three photos, including one 6 x 7″ and two 3 x 3″. My only criteria for selections was they had to be “best” or “favourite” photos from our hike along the red sand beach. I enlarged the photo of my family walking down the stairs to the path to the beach and included smaller-sized shots of my daughter building a rock inukshuk as well as a picture of the beautiful shoreline.

Lastly, I used chipboard elements, which included geotags and arrows, as well as pieces from the journal tags to create a diagonal line to direct the eye from the bottom left to the top right-hand side of the page. I love that these elements pop off the page! They compliment my travel pictures so well and I have enough to carry over to my pocket page so I embellish my additional photos.

Be sure to check back next month as I share how I complement this traditional page by creating the coordinating pocket page, using the Simple Stories, Here + There travel collection.
