Hello SCT friends, it’s Virginia here today to share with you my process in using a sketch and then turning it into a double page. I love using sketches for inspiration and here is a fun sketch by PageMaps.
When using a sketch I look for a starting point that grabs my attention for what I have in mind to scrap. This could be photo sizes and placement, a pattern or shape. This sketch features a large circle which is one of my favourite geometric shapes so that becomes my jumping off point and you see it on the left side of my finished page. I pretty much followed the overall design of the sketch but sometimes this may not always be the case so no worries when your finished page doesn’t resemble the sketch. All that really matters is you have documented your memories and had fun in the process!
I turned the single page sketch into a double page. I use a large circle element on the left side page and continued the circle shapes on the right side but on a smaller scale.
I kept the photos to two per side in keeping with the original photo suggestion of the sketch.
Hope you are inspired to craft today!

This is great. Love both the pages.
Great set up for your loving memories. Wish I could have started that years ago! Ha!
PAGE MAPS has been such an INSPIRATION to me over the many years that Becky Fleck has been creating them…I love those things! They really help jump start my creativity and have taught me more about playing with patterned paper too! XOXOX
Lovely pages
Very versatile and I love the layouts and how you stretched the single to a double. Great job and lots of inspiration. Page Maps has such great sketches. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love this layout! Very captivating and the layers are many but not cluttered! Good job!
Perfection! Love both pages.
FABULOUS layouts!!!
I LOVE using PageMaps and CardMaps!!!
How clever Virginia, turning the 1 pager into a 2 pager, it seems so effortlessly!! Yes, it does help to plan a head and use some suggestions from PageMaps. You are the Queen of layering :) Beautiful work; I’m going to study how you put all those layers together. Thanks for the close-ups!
These are wonderful lay outs. I really like the Chinese New Year lay out.
