It’s the final day of our Fall Issue Challenge Week, and today we’re stirring up a new recipe for you! Before you get hungry, we mean a papercrafting recipe! If you’ve never taken on this challenge before, we think you’ll love pulling elements together that you may not have selected before to make something fantastic! Let’s see what design team member Jess Forster has for us today!

…………………………

Hi SCT friends! It’s Jess Forster and today I am here to challenge you to create a pocket page or layout using a “recipe!” What is a scrapbooking recipe you ask? Well, if you’re like me, you probably have a collection of both new and “less new” items in your scrapbooking stash. One way to get your scrapbook mojo going is to limit the number or choice of products you work with. It’s like the Food Network TV show, “Chopped”, only instead of a basket of food, I am using crafty supplies! Are you interested? Let’s see what products I am working with!

For this 6 x 8 inch double pocket page, I challenged myself to use only four supplies, not including the pocket pages of course! I decided to mix and match these products to record the story of my daughter skateboarding for the first time:

I am always inspired by the season and now that we are almost officially in fall, I was eager to create a page using yellow and orange, traditional autumn colours.

I decided to back my photos with the cute orange patternED paper. I love the peek-a-boo look! Instead of printing traditional pocket-sized pictures for this layout, like 3 x 4 or 6 x 8 inches, I decided to cut them down to 2.5 x 3.5 and 5 x 7 and adhered them with foam squares to give an extra pop off the page. Next, I added the die-cut embellishments from the Elle’s Studio August kit, including the “so proud” star and “you did it” speech bubble.

Finally, I used the 3 x 4 inch yellow “Sunday Funday” and yellow lined card to write my story. I added the phrases, “a day to remember”, “for the record”, and “oh so happy” from the Scrapbook.com wordfetti stamp set to embellish to the card and use as a prompt to describe my daughter’s first time experience on her skateboard.

So, what happens when you have only four items to work with AND a story to tell? A quick and easy pocket page, created in no time flat. I challenge you to use only four supplies on your layouts, traditional or pocket page, to see what you create! Thanks for reading!
