Is a colour your go-to starting place for creating? If so, then you’re in luck today—creative team member Latisha Yoast is sharing a new colour scheme challenge with us, along with two beautiful card designs based off of it! Let’s take a look and start brainstorming ways to use this dreamy palette!

…………………………

Hello friends, I am so excited to be here during the Fall Issue challenge week! Today I am sharing this beautiful colour scheme, hoping it inspires you as much as it did me:

The colour scheme says fall and autumn. Hero Arts has beautiful stamps and dies, so I used the brand new Autumn Bouquet Fancy Dies with the Autumn Wreath stamp set

The colour scheme image is so soft and beautiful, and had me wanting to watercolour! For this first card, I die cut the images from watercolor paper before colouring each one with orange, yellow, teal, and brown watercolours.

Before the sentiment was stamped in black ink, I balanced and grounded the card by adding a “floor” using the same watercolor colors. The images were adhered to the panel with foam adhesive, and I wrapped twine around the panel before adhering it to the orange card base measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

The blue-green color in the image is so pretty and I wanted to create a tone-on-tone card with patterned paper and stamping.

After creating a card base measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches, I trimmed down Lawn Fawn patterned paper to 4 x 5.25 inches. Using the same ink pads as the colors in the image, I randomly stamped leaves on the background before adhering the card base with foam adhesive.

The “harvest” sentiment was stamped onto a .5 x 4-inch strip of cardstock and adhered to the card front. Using the Autumn Bouquet Fancy Dies, I die cut the flower from ivory cardstock, then adhered it to the card. To embellish, an enamel dot and a twine bow were added.

For the final card, I tried to replicate the color swatch at the bottom of the photo. The front panel of the card was created by blending Close to My Heart Exclusive Inks onto a white panel. The blended inks are water-based dye ink pads, which means when they dry, you get a seamless blended background!

The wreath and the leaves on the card base were stamped using White Daisy pigment ink. I wrapped gray twine around the panel, then applied it to the card base with foam adhesive for added dimension. Orange Nuvo drops were added as a final embellishment.

I hope you are inspired by this colour scheme, and will join us in getting creative this week!
