Happy Tuesday! Today we are excited to welcome Karlla Dauer to the blog as a guest designer! We just LOVED the layout that Karlla created for our Spring/Summer 2024 Issue and we had to get her to come back to share a companion layout with us today. If you have traveled to a magical place this summer, we know that this layout will inspire you, as will the one that she is sharing today using the new Say Cheese Classic Mouse Collection by Simple Stories! Let’s hear from Karlla, and be sure to leave her a comment on this post to say hello!

Hello, friends. It’s Karlla Dauer here, and I can’t describe my happiness at being a guest designer this month! Sharing this project with you is wonderful and I hope you can feel all the magic.
I’ve been to a lot of beautiful places, but being in the Disney Parks is inexplicable to me. I think a lot of people know what I’m talking about. I always get emotional—from beginning to end. More incredible was receiving the invitation from SCT to share a layout with the theme of travel with you, which made me decide to pull together my Disney photos from the last trip using the Say Cheese Classic Mouse Collection by Simple Stories.

Supplies: Patterned paper, Cardstock Stickers, Bits & Pieces, Journal Pieces, Big Bits & Pieces, Simple Pages Page Pieces, Decorative Brads and Enamel Dots: Simple Stories Say Cheese Classic Mouse Collection
Multiple photos call for a double-page layout, which I brought to you today. I love the coordination between one page and another. As the basis for the two pages, I chose papers in shades of yellow (Paper Oh, Gosh and 2×2 4×4 Elements), which helped to frame the layout. The sides of each page were made with strips of patterned paper (3×4 Elements, I’m All Ears and That’s a Classic) and a sewn finish. I love the detail of the stitched edges.

As I wanted the two pages to coordinate, I chose to make these overlapping borders (one on the left side and the other strip on the right side) to house the titles from the Big Bits & Pieces and Page Pieces. I added embellishments from the collection with various heights of foam tape to give it dimension.

In the center of the two pages, I made a large base for the photos and tags. This effect gives the spread a beautiful look and connects the two pages. It was made with two overlapping papers in black and white tones. This helps to highlight the colorful photos and details of the embellishments. I used photos of various sizes, with different heights (I love foam tape for this!) and the beautiful tags that I found in the collection.

To finish the project, I LOVE the Enamel Dots and the Decorative Brads that Simple Stories adds to all of its collections. They have my heart! I applied them in the center of the circles and to finish off the tags.

Now tell me, do you also love creating double-page layouts? I hope this one has inspired you in some way and I can’t wait to see your creations. Thank you for letting me touch your hearts with this project today!

Hello guys, I’m Karlla Dauer. I started scrapbooking in 2006 and it never left my life. I am Brazilian, but I have lived with my husband and son in Texas since 2016. 12×12 projects have my heart and I confess that I LOVE layouts full of layers and overlays. If I’m not creating, I’m having fun or resting with my family. I love to practice physical activity, read, and cook.

Love your layout!
I love that your layouts are colorful & fun, but don’t distract from your photos. Thanks for sharing!
Super cute Disney layout! I love doing double pages too, most of my albums are filled with them!
That’s a great layout. I wish they had scrapbooking when I went to Disneyland as a kid. I was only 6 and don’t remember any of it.
Beautiful layout! This collection is so fun, love how you used it!
