Hey there Scrapbook & Cards Today friends! It’s Becki here to share with you a layout that I created, featured in the Summer 2021 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine. You can find this layout on page 72, and I hope it inspires a weekend scrapbooking session in your own crafty space!

This project is one of my personal favorites! I started this project in the middle of the night. I got the basic idea for the project, the photo chosen, and the journaling written while I was unable to sleep. Sometimes my best work happens at 2 am! The next day, I put everything together and added the finishing touches. Most of the products that I used on this project are from the Pinkfresh Studio “Keeping it Real” collection.

The first thing I did on this layout was to create the beautiful floral embellishment line in the upper left corner of the layout. I cut a 4” square of the blue patterned paper and cut it in half diagonally to create two triangular pieces. I adhered one of them to the corner of the white cardstock. Along the long edge of the triangle, I created a long cluster of floral embellishments. Some of the flowers are adhered above the blue paper and below the blue paper. This gives that corner of the layout tons of visual interest.

To balance out the bold left corner, I tucked the other corner of the blue patterned paper under the right corner of the white cardstock and stitched it in place with my sewing machine and white thread. Then, I created a small embellishment cluster at the bottom right corner of the photo.

My title fit nicely above the photo. The “friends” portion of the title was created with letter stickers from the “Keeping It Real” collection. The “forever” portion of the title was created with my Silhouette Cameo and pink textured cardstock. I cut the word out several times and stacked all the die cuts together to create a chipboard-like die cut. This gave the title so much texture and dimension!

My favorite part of this layout, other than the beautiful photo of two of my favorite girls, is the pink lace trim. I stitched a little piece of this trim below the photo. That little piece of lace trim came from my grandma’s sewing box. I was over the moon excited that I found the perfect spot to use it. The story of these two cousins and best friends will always be stitched together with a little reminder of their great-grandmother. How cool is that?

When I finished this layout, I knew it would be an SCT magazine submission. I’m always so grateful to Catherine, Susan, Meghann and the entire SCT team for having me as a part of their magazine and blog. I still have that giddy feeling when I see my work in such a spectacular magazine!

Thank you for spending part of your day here with me on the SCT blog. Have a wonderful day!
