Today we are excited to welcome the talented Debi Adams with Hero Arts to the blog today, sharing an amazing DIY ornament project with you that we know you will want to create in time for the holidays for all of your friends and family!
……………………
Hello! It’s Debi Adams here with Hero Arts, and I’m excited to share four ornaments that I created using the beautiful, new Ornament Fancy Dies: Cheer, Wish, Love, and Joy 2020 from the Winter Collection released by Hero Arts.
This first ornament features the Cheer Ornament Fancy Die. I began by die cutting a circle in the same size as the ornament, and ink blended in red, softening at the top to create an ombre look. Next, I die cut the cheer ornament twice: once from white cardstock, and again from red glitter cardstock. I layered them together, allowing the red glitter to show as a shadow behind the white “cheer” word. I finished this ornament with the hanger and snowflake included in the die set and added a sequin and a bit of glitter to finish.
This ornament actually involves a stamp set and the Wish Ornament Fancy Die. I stamped the background using the Cozy Town stamp set with Copic-friendly Intense Black Ink onto white cardstock, colored them in with Copic Markers, and die-cut the piece out using the Nesting Circle Infinity Die that was closest to the size of the ornament. I then cut the Wish Ornament out from red glitter paper and adhered the two papers together. I cut another ornament from white glitter cardstock and used the bottom portion only to create “snow” under the word “wish,” adding the ornament hanger and bow to finish.
I turned the Love Ornament Fancy Die into a shaker ornament. The gold poster board was die-cut into a circle for the background base that matched the size of the ornament. Several Love Ornament Fancy Dies were cut from white cardstock and glued together to create a raised platform to hold the sequins while allowing them to move freely about. A piece of circular acetate was adhered underneath the top Love Ornament and then attached to the top of the other layered sentiments. Lastly, the Ornament hanger was cut from gold poster board and attached to the top of the ornament. This would make a great package topper too!
My final ornament is a play on “Joy to the World.” I die-cut the World Window Fancy Die from watercolor paper and used another larger Nesting Circle Infinity Die to remove it from the actual paper (it’s a negative image) and watercolored it using the Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Palette. Then I cut another, same-sized circle from watercolor paper to fill in the background. I attached the two together using foam dots. The die-cut, gold poster board Joy Ornament Fancy Die was attached to the front of the world and it was done!
We hope you’ve enjoyed this look at some projects from the new Hero Arts 2020 Winter Collection, and that these ornaments have inspired you to begin thinking about your holiday gift-giving projects!
