Wow, what a day of ideas and inspiration it has been! As we begin to wrap up this International Scrapbook Day celebration, we would like to thank you for joining us, creating with us, and sharing your projects! Don’t forget, that in addition to submitting your projects based on the guidelines below, we would also love to see them on social media! Tag us on Instagram and/or Facebook and use that hashtag #createwithsct when you share your projects created from one of our 4 challenges already posted: a PageMaps sketch challenge, a design challenge, a colour challenge and a scraplift challenge

Our final challenge for you today is to take the scraps laying on your desk from all of the projects that you have created and make a greeting card! If you’re not much of a card maker, no worries! Just think of this as a layout design, but on a smaller scale! Use scraps of cardstock, patterned paper, stickers, ink and stamps to craft the perfect card to send to someone you love—not only will you stretch your creativity, but you’ll also make someone else’s day!

Share your scrap card creation with us using these guidelines:

Challenge Guidelines:

  1. Create a card using your scraps and send an image of it to us at ideas@scrapbookandcards.com.
  2. Please put “iNSD scrap card challenge” in your reference line.
  3. Please ensure your image is less than 2mb.
  4. You have until May 13th to send in your submission. We will share a selection of today’s challenge submissions on May 15th!

Let’s check out the card that Meghann Andrew created using scraps from her SCT Delivered Garden Party Kit!

“Hello there SCT friends! It’s Meghann, and I’m excited to finish off iNSD with you today by making use of what I know you all have laying around: scraps! Recently, I have created one double-page and two single-page layouts using the SCT Delivered Garden Party Kit, and I’m getting down to small pieces of paper and just a few embellishments on my most-loved pieces from this kit! What can you do with small scraps? Create a card, of course! Since Mother’s Day is only 10 days away, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful goodies found in the kit to create a card for my mom.

The beauty of using your scraps to create cards is that you can’t tell that it was created with scraps at all! I just love everything about this sweet and simple card. It started out with an A2 base of pale yellow cardstock, and I topped it with a scrap piece of the pink polka dot paper.

I always love the exclusive printables found in the SCT Delivered kits, so I had very few left, but this gingham floral journaling card worked perfectly to create the next layer and add a focal point for my card. I adhered it with foam adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives to give it some lift. To the left of this card, I adhered the Pink Paislee Bloom Street word strip—I only have a few precious pieces of this paper left!

My sentiment was added next, and I used the Bloom Street puffy words. Hello was already spelled out on the sheet, but “mom” was not. What could I do? Make it work by mixing three different letters from different words! Below that, I stamped “thanks for being you,” using the Garden Party exclusive kit stamp.

The SCT Delivered kits always have a wide range of embellishments to choose from, but if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, you can always create something yourself! Here I fussy cut flowers from a Simple Stories floral design to add dimensional florals to the bottom right corner of my card, and finished off the grouping with a heart die cut—a leftover piece that I had saved after cutting one of the Garden Party exclusive cut files! Never throw those die cuts away! For a bit more texture, I wrapped baker’s twine around the gingham card twice before tying off the twine with one of the gorgeous tassels found in the kit. A few sparkly rhinestones completed this card, and I still have enough scraps to keep going!

I hope you’ll take up this challenge to use what is already lying on your desk from your creative pursuits today and share some handmade love in the mail! Thanks so much for joining us on this International Scrapbook Day!”
