You might be surprised when I tell you that these cards were inspired by this scrapbook layout, created by Mari Clarke and featured in the spring issue:
I was inspired by the gorgeous soft background, the torn patterned paper strip in the center, and the white space along the bottom of Mari’s page. I used papers from the Mix-in collection by Close To My Heart and a sentiment tag from the “Oh Happy Day” collection by Echo Park Paper.
I also loved how Mari created the white and vellum floral image along the top of her page. The subtle florals allow her photos to really shine, and I thought the subtle florals were a great accent to my bolder sentiments. I used a metal die set called “Hibiscus Sunshine” from Echo Park Paper to recreate the look.
After creating one card with the soft colors inspired by the page, I decided to use the same inspiration with slightly brighter papers. This was the result:
The bolder floral and geometric papers are from the “Dive Into Summer” 6×6 paper pad from Echo Park Paper.
Isn’t it amazing to see how different the two cards are, just by switching the papers when everything else is almost the same? It’s fun to choose one inspiration piece and see how you can make it your own! Have you been inspired by any of the projects in the spring issue?
