Hello everyone! It’s Nathalie with you today! I am sure by now most of you are enjoying our Summer 2020 Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Issue; filled with lots of inspiration, beautiful projects, techniques, and sketches. We are so lucky to have PageMaps design exclusive sketches for our publication that are fun and easy to use to document our lives. I decided to use this sketch, found on page 30, to create the layout that I’m sharing with you today:

And here is the layout I created from the sketch:

Supplies | Patterned paper, die cuts, shaped stickers, clear stickers:  HEIDI SWAPP Chapters collection; Vellum: Bazzill; Foam stickers: Crate Paper; Chipboard stickers: American Crafts; Adhesive: 3L; Mist: Heidi Swapp Colorshine; Digital cut file: SCT June 2018

Sketches are a great starting point for your pages and the rest is up to you! The sketch uses strips of patterned paper to anchor the pictures to the page. I decided to soften this idea by replacing the vertical strip of patterned paper with a large floral cut out.

Since I am using patterned paper as the base for the page, I decided to use the June 2018 bonus cut file to weld two of the floral images and cut it out from cardstock that matches the background color. Here is where working with a project paper pad comes in handy, as it contains patterned paper and matching cardstock inside!  A bit of foam adhesive added dimension to the page.

I love the movement of the photos in the original sketch, so I decided to use the same number of photos and positions when adding them to the page. I played, once again, with foam adhesive to add a bit of extra movement to the page.

I kept the clusters of florals in the same position as the original sketch but decided to change the large circle piece of paper behind the picture for a die-cut frame. I backed the empty space of the frame with a piece of vellum, softening the shape and providing a perfect spot for the title work. I combined textures and finish on the stickers that create the title, then added a few drops of gold ink around to bring the page together.

The sketch made this page come together rather easily with a few minor changes, and I love how it turned out. Remember to check out the other sketches available in the PageMaps section of the SCT Magazine Summer Issue. You are going to love creating with them!
