Hey SCT friends! It’s Erica here with you today with my very first post as a Creative Team Member! I am super excited to be here and look forward to an amazing creative 2020. The Winter 2019 issue is full of inspiration on every page. When I receive my Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine in the mail, I do a brief look at all the pages and then go back and sit with it and really dive into it! When I spotted Lisa Dickinson’s “Tradition” layout on page 14, I just fell in love with it:

First, I love anything that includes a cut file, so right away the free cut file caught my eye. I am a girl who loves circles, so I could not resist all the circles backed with pretty paper against a white background. I could not wait to get started on my own layout!

To begin, I pulled out my Let it Snow Scrapbook kit—the perfect collection of products to help me create a quick and beautiful layout! I die cut the circle cut file using textured white cardstock and backed it with some of the pretty papers in the kit. I used the Diamond cardstock from the Let it Snow kit as my base and added some ink splatters with mists from my stash, coordinating the colors from the kit with the ink that I chose.

Using papers from the kit makes it easy to back the file because you know all the papers coordinate together. When using a lot of circles on a page, I also like to cut my photos out in a circle and I use steel craft dies to do this. It is super easy to do and I think it really makes the page stand out.

I love the details around Lisa’s page and wanted to do something to help my layout stand out as well. Instead of going for a full 12 x 12 matted layout, I tore strips off of each side of my layout and adhered the pretty black and white gingham paper from the kit behind my white cardstock. I love the distressed look of the torn cardstock and the gingham paper helps make the layout pop.
