In every issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today, there are pages full of readers artwork called, Inspiration Gallery. On page 64 of the recent spring issue, there is a card by Maureen Merritt. She created a beautiful stamped floral card shown below.
Today, I am recreating her card using pre-made diecuts and stickers from various paper collections.
Doodlebug Designs paper collections always bring immense joy to creating, so I knew I had to use the Lots O’ Luck paper line. It is full of rainbows, unicorns and bright vibrant colors. It also has a black and white striped paper, just like the card Maureen made. The odds and ends ephemera even has die cut sentiments, so this card took no time at all to make. Each of the pre-made diecuts were adhered to the card using foam adhesive. Which give the card nice depth and dimension.
For my second card I used Pinkfresh Studio. Pinkfresh Studios is a company that has the scrapbooker AND cardmaker in mind. They curate beautiful paper collections as well as stamp and dies. The paper collections are so thoughtful, beautiful and always on trend. I happen to have the Joyful Day 6×6 paper pad along with some diecuts and stickers, that I knew would be perfect to replicate Maureen’s card.
There was a deep indigo pattern paper that mimicked stripes, so I used that as my striped pattern paper in the background. Using a combination of stickers and diecuts popped up with 3d foam tape, I was able to create a floral background. As well as add a sentiment that was pre made in the ephemera kit.
When I recreate a card that I am inspired by, I used the card as a real life layout example. I don’t try and use the exact same paper and stamps. Its recreated as a sketch allowing me to use whatever I have on hand an am inspired by.
