Let’s hear from Catherine Tachdjian at 9 am Eastern to kick off our day!

To inspire you to create today, we are starting with a sketch challenge! Let’s take a look at the new sketch by Allison Davis featured in our new Spring/Summer 2025 issue:

Let’s get inspired by two of our team members, Karlla Dauer and Marcia Dehn-Nix, and take a look at how they used the sketch to create two amazing layouts!

Karlla Dauer

Supplies | Simple Vintage Woodlands Collection: Collection kit, Vintage Basics Kit, Bits & Pieces, Floral Bits & Pieces, Big Bits & Pieces, Sentiments Bits & Pieces, Ephemera, Enamel Dots, Decorative Brads

This sketch has my whole heart. These triangle overlays are incredible for those who want to use a lot of paper prints without making the project too busy. You can even play around by folding the edges, like I did with the last triangle, before giving it even more detail with a machine stitch.

Marcia

Supplies | Bella Blvd Let’s Scrapbook collection: 12×12 patterned paper, stickers, puffy stickers, die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers; Other: hemp twine, thread

I flipped the sketch on its side to scrapbook a 5 x 7″ photo instead of two smaller ones. I like using a larger-sized photo when it contains a group of people. For International Scrapbook Day, I chose to scrap my scrappy tribe from several years ago. This photo is one of the last photos I have of my bestie, who introduced me to scrapbooking. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with cancer shortly after. I opted to use the Bella Blvd Let’s Scrapbook collection. It is the perfect collection for scrapping your crafty besties! One of the patterned papers in this collection contains geometric triangles that I cut apart and rearranged in rainbow order on my layout. I even machine-stitched them using color-coordinating thread! Even though I flipped my sketch, I left the title under my photo and added embellishments up the side and at the top as in the original sketch. I love how it turned out and can’t wait to see what you create with the sketch!

To enter the sketch challenge, join our Facebook Group, then click the ‘media’ tab, go to ‘albums’, and add your single layout photo to the ‘International Scrapbook Day Sketch Challenge Projects’ album. By sharing your project there, you will be entered to win a $100 gift card from us at Scrapbook & Cards Today!

Projects must be uploaded into the album before midnight on Wednesday, May 14th to be entered to win. A random winner will be chosen and announced with the other INSD winners here on the SCT blog on Friday, May 16th. Good luck!

You can still win a giveaway from our friends at Scrapbook.com, just for leaving a comment on this post!
