Hello, crafty friends, it’s Mirisha Dean here! I hope you’re having a fantastic day filled with creativity and inspiration. Today, I’m thrilled to share a fun and easy card project featuring one of my favorite techniques: ink smooshing! This method is perfect for creating beautiful, organic textures, especially for floral designs.

Supplies | Ranger: Distress Oxides in Antique Linen, Saltwater Taffy, Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass; Distress Spray Stain in Mowed Lawn; Scrapbook.com: Sunshine Blooms Floral Die and Stamp Set, Black Lustre Brush, Mixed-media cardstock; Honey Bee Stamps: Burlap Embossing Folder; Lawn Fawn: Jet Black Ink; Other: heat tool, acetate sheet; gold half pearls; foam tape and liquid adhesive, MISTI Stamping Tool
There’s something so freeing about ink smooshing. It’s one of my favorite techniques because it brings the beauty of watercoloring to card projects without needing a paintbrush. Whether I’m using distress oxides or inks, this technique creates stunning, one-of-a-kind backgrounds that feel like little masterpieces.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest details that make the biggest impact. For me, adding metallic accents is the perfect way to elevate a project and give it that glistening touch.
Metallics have a way of catching the light, making your cards feel dynamic and eye-catching. Whether you add metallic pearls or gold die-cuts, they’re a great way to highlight focal points or tie together the overall color palette of your project.

One of my favorite things about cardmaking is the endless ways to bring your designs to life. For me, it’s all about dimension. Adding depth to my cards takes them from simple designs to little works of art that pop—literally!
I encourage you to experiment with foam tape and layering techniques to make your cards stand out. For this project, I added foam tape to the back of a few flowers to give them a little lift. It’s a simple touch, but the effect is stunning—the flowers seem to bloom right off the card!
I also love layering cardstock for sentiments. By stacking a few extra layers, I can create a bold centerpiece that feels substantial and polished. Plus, it’s a great way to add interest without needing extra embellishments.

I hope this project inspires you to try the ink-smooshing technique for your next crafting session. It’s such a versatile and forgiving method that always yields unique results. Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just starting, it’s a technique that guarantees gorgeous results every time.
