As 2012 comes to a close, I’d like to wrap up
this year-end issue by answering many of the
questions sent in by our readers.
question no. 1
Although I am an amateur photographer, I’ve
learned so much from your articles and I
would like to try my hand at taking my
daughter’s senior photos this year. The
problem is, she is quite shy and absolutely
hates having her photo taken. How can I make
this a fun experience for both of us and still
get the shots I want, both portrait and candid?
~Carrie in Prince Edward Island
Stage a few “mini shoots” first. Make sure your
daughter is in an outfit that she loves and is
having a good hair day. Bring along a few props
to mix things up. Let her choose the location
and ask her to invite some friends. Put your
camera on burst mode and be prepared to take
a lot of photos. Ask her to pose for a few, but
also just casually follow her with the camera
and let her take the lead.

and see if you can find some shade. You will benefit from the ample light but
