For my
easy
layout, I started with a large photo, then created a frame for my main scrapping area by trim-
ming woodgrain paper and layering it on top of more detailed patterned paper. I cut a wide strip of brown
polka dot paper and positioned it horizontally to bring attention to my photo. Narrow strips of grey and pink
patterned paper along the edge of the polka dot strip provide more colour and movement in the direction
of the main photo. A mix of two different letter stickers create an easy-to-read title. I then used pre-die cut
paper pieces and journaling pieces as tabs to surround the perimeter of my photos. Punched hearts, set up in
a linear format, draw the eye directly toward my subject.
I love documenting my kids carefully writing out all of their valentine cards to give to their friends and
loved ones. Valentine’s Day 2012 was especially sweet since my youngest was in kindergarten and took
tremendous pride in writing out every one of his cards all by himself. It would be the last time that I
would capture such an endearing moment and one that I will treasure always, with love.
