summer 2013
the 3 i’s
Your letter might be written to a child, your parents,
spouse, grandparents, a teacher, or maybe even to
yourself. I find this an especially effective tool when I
have a story that might be a little more challenging to
tell, yet I’d like to include it in my scrapbook. Perhaps the
special loved one who you would like to write to is gone.
Write to them anyway. What do they mean to you? What
did they teach you? How did they change your life? What
are the things you’ve always wanted to tell them? Write it
all down.
After you take advantage of the opportunity to document
these thoughts and feelings, make sure to share them with
your loved ones if they are still with you. Get on the
phone. Send an email. Scan your page or re-type your
journaling. Life is too short to not include these types of
pages in your album. You can do it
!
Pair a new and an old photo together for a fun contrast
between yesterday and today.
Draw lines on pattern paper before adding your journaling.
I love mixed fonts and handwriting. Use a stamp to repeat
the “thank you” sentiment again and again at the start of
each sentence.
Your letter doesn’t have to look like a traditional letter.
Add a big title, like the one that I cut out with a
Silhouette machine.
