Hey there, SCT friends, and Happy New Year to you! I am SO excited to kick off a new year of content here on the SCT blog, and let me just say—there are some very exciting things to come in this space! Today, I’m giddy to share our first cut file of the year with you, created by our own Creative Editor, Paige Evans:

This cut file will certainly make your layout shine and can be used to create the perfect opener to your 2022 album. Take a look at how I used the cut file to record my standards for 2022:

Supplies | Patterned paper, stickers, cardstock: Close to My Heart’s Candid Moments collection; Sequins: Close to My Heart Silver Loose Sequins; Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Coconut Swirl, vellum; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Electronic die cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo

This beautiful cut file was so easy to use—simply cut the frame out in your chosen cardstock, then you can separate your layers to use contrasting patterns or hues for the stars and date. The best part is that the stars are all the same shape, so once you copy one-star shape, you can create an entire row of stars to die cut, ensuring that you don’t waste any excess paper. Instead of centering my wreath, I chose to place it at the right edge of the page, trimming off the excess from the edge of the patterned paper background.

To add my recent photo without taking away from the cut file in any way, I cut it to fit in the ‘0’ of 2022!

The beautiful Candid Moments collection from Close to My Heart included the perfect selection of patterns and stickers to help me create this page. The ‘hello’ word stickers added extra colour and a bit of pattern in the center of my wreath. I also added extra star stickers from the collection, as well as this perfect “live your best life” clipboard, which I popped up with foam adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

To keep the star wreath the focal point, I printed my journaling on a column of vellum, adding the cute binder stickers to the top. A wreath of stars wouldn’t be complete without some sparkle, so I finished off my album with sequins!

I hope my layout, and our first cut file of the year, inspire you to record the beginning of a new year, whether your aspirations or what life looks like here and now! All the best to you for a happy and creative 2022!
