Hello, friends! It’s Jana Eubank here. The summer months usually bring a vacation or two for most of us, which means lots of fun and new adventures to scrapbook! Planning and anticipating the vacation is almost as exhilarating as the vacation itself. Today, I’m using the FREE July 2024 Airplane Background Cut File designed by Paige Evans for Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine readers, to document that all-too-exciting first leg of any vacation … travel day!

Supplies | Simple Stories Pack Your Bags collection: Tag Elements Paper, 2 x 2/4 x 4 Elements Paper, 6 x 8 Pad, 12 x 12 Cardstock Stickers, Decorative Brads, Foam Stickers, Big Bits, Journal Bits, Washi Tape; Simple Stories Color Vibe cardstock: Peacock, Dandelion, White, Coral; Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die-Cutting Machine; Scrapbook.com Adhesive & Foam Tape; White Crochet Twine; Black Twine; Mini Stapler; Vellum; Computer/Printer for Journaling; Font: Prestige Elite Standard
I backed each airplane of the cut file with a different patterned paper from the Simple Stories Pack Your Bags 6 x 8 Pad. I then hand-stitched around each airplane and added a stitched border around the perimeter of the Peacock cardstock base.

The lines of the hand-stitching remind me of the dashed, contrail lines you might doodle behind the tail of an airplane drawing.

My daughter graduated from high school during Covid, which meant we didn’t get a chance to properly celebrate her milestone with a graduation trip. This particular trip was our chance to make that up to her, so everyone in our family was quite excited to FINALLY be going on a fun, family vacation. You could feel the buzz of excitement in the air, even at the airport.

To help my photos stand out from the airplane cut file background, I matted each photo with colorful Color Vibe cardstock from Simple Stories, then layered journal cards behind. A large, dimensional title at the bottom of the photos announces the subject for my page and provides an additional spot to accent with cute embellishments.

The photos, title, layers, and journal block receive even more ‘lift’ from the background with the help of foam tape by Scrapbook.com. The twine tied in the tags and added contrast and texture to this page as well!

Don’t forget to download this FREE cut file! Pair it with the Simple Stories Pack Your Bags collection for a perfect way to document travel photos from your latest family vacation.

See you again soon!

Hi! LOVE this page! How did you machine stitch around each of the airplanes without tearing the paper? Your stitching looks great!
