Hello, all! We are continuing Let’s Hear It For the Boys Week today with our creative team member Andrea Lake! Andrea is taking a super cool collection and using it to document a layout about a special guy in her life, and she gives us a great reminder that you CAN use a flower on a layout about a guy! Let’s take a look at what she created!

Hello, friends! It’s Andrea Lake with you today and I am sharing a masculine layout I created with the Cedar House collection by American Crafts. If you know me, you know I am a big fan of bright colors. I love everything pink, teal and yellow. But sometimes, creating with a good neutral essential collection is all my heart needs. It also makes it easy to create layouts for the boys in my family. I had to add some floral details to this one, but when the flowers are black and white, they look less like actual flowers, and more like a fun layering element on the page.

Supplies | American Crafts Cedar House collection: patterned paper, cardstock stickers, foam stickers, enamel dots, mini alpha stickers, ephemera pieces; Scrapbook & Cards Today: Pocket & Tag Die Set; Therm O Web: iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive; Scrapbook Adhesives: E-Z Runner Grand, Crafty Foam Tape, 3D Foam Squares, 3D Foam Strips; We R Makers: All-in-One Tool, scissors

I knew from the beginning that the black paper was going to be used as my background, and I added a couple of 1” strips on the sides with zig zag machine stitching. I also knew I wanted to make this a multi-photo layout with some hidden journaling. A grid design was the first thing that came to mind and then I also remembered I had the PERFECT product to make it an interactive, fun, and eye-catching page: the SCT Pocket & Tag Die Set! I used the tag die to cut my photos as well as one patterned paper tag for the journaling and then cut a pocket to keep that journaling tag.

I love fussy cutting and the Cedar House collection has a black and white floral paper that was perfect for that. I layered the floral clusters with the photos. This collection also has a great set of title and phrase foam stickers that I used to put together my ‘Epic Adventures’ title. I finished the page with a few phrase cardstock stickers.

I hope this layout inspires you to grab this gorgeous collection and create fun pages and projects to document a special guy in your life!
