Happy Magazine Monday, friends!
I hope you are having an absolutely AWESOME summer! Mine has been great so far with several visits from friends and family and even a smashing day spent with our publisher Catherine Tachdjian and our Creative Editor Jen Gallacher right here in Utah.
Catherine, Jen, and I spent some time talking about and planning for upcoming issues while we walked the summer trade show floor just a few miles from my house. And then we relaxed and chatted over dinner that evening (my sister joined us, too—she was a scrapbooker once upon a time, and now she makes cards like me!). I loved hearing Catherine tell about when our magazine was just a tiny spark of an amazing idea. It makes me SO proud to work with this lady who took such an enormous chance on a new way of looking at publications.
A couple days later, my sister and I (along with two of our closest friends) were off to southern Utah for a fantastic and fun girls weekend together. I gotta tell you, I’m a city girl. I like hotels and bustling metropolises and the lovely amenities in life. But when you live in Utah, our National Parks are an absolute must, and the four of us had the chance to stay in a historic home (owned by friends) not far from Bryce Canyon National Park. I tell you, it is a magnificent place to behold. And spending the time with these girls made it even more fun!

Before we went on this epic adventure, I decided to create a thank you card for Devyn since she arranged our home away from home for the weekend. I absolutely LOVE a concept card, so I googled images of Bryce Canyon for color inspiration and went to town with lots of wavy dies from My Favorite Things. I was SO stoked with the result.

Devyn LOVED the card, and now it’s on the corkboard in the kitchen of the house we stayed in for others to enjoy, too. And that makes me SO happy!
Have you been able to travel this summer? I wonder how your travels will inspire your creativity?
