Happy Magazine Monday, my SCT friends! Whether you celebrated Canada Day or Independence Day in the US these last few days, we hope you had a wonderful summer weekend!

Have you had the chance to peruse the summer 2021 issue of SCT? Goodness, it’s amazing! I just love the juicy vibrance of each summer issue, and this one did NOT disappoint! One of my favorite articles in the issue was Creative Cards with the Black and White with a Pop of Color theme! In the issue, you will find nine cards on this theme including this stunner by Dilay Nacar (found on page 55).

I wanted to try my hand at this color challenge, and here is one of two cards that I made:

Supplies | Cardstock: My Favorite Things, Simon Says Stamp; Patterned paper: Amy Tangerine for American Crafts, Heidi Swapp for American Crafts; Enamel dots: Your Next Stamp; Dies: Gina K Designs, My Favorite Things; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Therm O Web

I’ve seen some of my favorite scrapbookers bending back patterned paper to reveal a pattern below, so I thought I’d try that idea on a card. Since the graphic black and white pattern was one-sided, I didn’t love how the stark white looked when pulled back, so instead I just cut the flaps off and ended up with a pop of color in the shape of a triangle. It will probably be easier to mail this way anyhow! The bit of green cardstock peeking out continued the theme and balanced the design.

And I didn’t stop there! I decided to make another card while I was at it.

Supplies | Cardstock, ink: Simon Says Stamp; Patterned paper, enamel dots: Pink & Main; Stamps: Close To My Heart, Photoplay Paper; Dies: Close TO My Heart, My Favorite Things, Photoplay Paper; Gel: Gina K. Designs; Stencil: Photoplay Paper; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Therm O Web

Tone-on-tone has been my jam lately, so I used the Photoplay Paper Maze stencil with black Glitz Glitter Gel to create a dramatic background on this card. Oooh la la, I LOVE it! All the stamping was done with black ink on white, and I popped in some color with patterned papers and enamel dots from Pink & Main. SCORE!

We’d love to see what you create inspired by our summer issue! We love our readers and can’t wait to see what you are creating!

Here’s to finding all kinds of inspiration in the summer 2021 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today!
