Hello, friends! Happy Monday!
Things are heating up for our summer 2021 issue, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you next month! But until then, let’s get a little inside look at where I create my cards for each issue’s Editor’s Note.
If you’re anything like me, you love peeking into the craft rooms of other creative people. I know that I do! I watch a ridiculous amount of home improvement and organizational shows, and I’m always excited to put those ideas into action.
My sister and I share a townhome with a walkout basement, and she recently started working from home (in the craft industry). I have a home office on the main level of the house, so we decided to revamp the craft room to accommodate her office.
We are so fortunate to have a large space with natural light. Most of the furniture you see we have had for some time, but we did get the IKEA shelving unit in December. We’d been watching The Home Edit on Netflix and took a lot of cues from their colorful and organizational style.
One of the most useful parts of the room is our magnetic die wall. We repurposed the shutter doors from our laundry room for this storage solution. It’s so helpful to be able to see all of the dies at a glance!
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again… I’m obsessed with Glitz Glitter Gel from Therm O Web and Gina K. Designs. This delicious rainbow of sparkly goodness has its own spot on a spice rack I got from Amazon.
Our alphabet stickers are arranged by color and tucked into drawers at the bottom of this area, and above the little bench, we have a WAY fun collection of enamel pins and buttons we’ve accumulated over the years. From Little Yellow Bicycle to Lawn Fawn, there’s a whole lot of craft memories (including my Funnest Scrapbooker Ever 2007 Second Attendant sash!).
I’ve been building a stash of Spectrum Noir markers for quite some time, and oooooh my, they do look delicious all neatly arranged in one corner of the room.
When I share photos with my Facebook friends, this was one of their favorite solutions! Once upon a time, this was a three-drawer shelving basket, but turn it on its back, and it’s an amazing way to store wrapping paper rolls!
We love our crafty little heaven (we call it the Opel Girl Cave), and since we have it so organized, finding what I want and putting it away is a simple task. And by the way… in this last photo, you can see where my sister’s new office is.
I hope you enjoyed this little behind-the-scenes peek at my craft room!
wow very well organized
Awesome craft room! Thanks for sharing.
OMG…that DIE Wall is to DIE for!!! I’m healthy jealous for it!
I thought the magnetic wall was a urban graphic design art piece for a video backdrop and was so impressed— use it to your advantage. Great space
All I can say is WOW! That die wall is brilliant! Great space, and you’re so lucky to have your sister to craft/work with!
Amazing!
How wonderful to see the space where all your crafting magic unfolds! Can you please, please, please share where you purchased the magnetic sheets for your shutter doors? I’d love to replicate this in my own room. Thank you!
