Happy Magazine Monday, my SCT friends!
How’s that holiday shopping coming? I love shopping, so it’s a year-round affair for me, and whenever I’m out and about, there’s nothing I love more than drawing creative inspiration from color combinations, store displays, and signage. Enter this display outside my local JCPenney at the mall:
The MINUTE I saw this sign, I honestly couldn’t wait to transfer the general concept into a card design. I mean those colors and those stripes! So great. So I hurried down to my craft room and whipped up this card:
supplies CARDSTOCK, DIES: My Favorite Things, Simon Says Stamp; PATTERNED PAPER: Doodlebug Design; RHINESTONES: My Mind’s Eye; ADHESIVE: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
First I searched for a way to make the black and gray background, and I scoured my B-sides and found a great match in this black and grey chevron print from the Doodlebug Design Haunted Manor collection.
Next, I used the Wise Men Still Seek Him die from Simon Says Stamp and cut it four times in four different colors. For the dots of the I’s I added a simple color-coordinating jewel giving the design a little holiday sparkle. So simple and truly based on the inspiration. It’s one of my favorite cards I’ve made in a while.
Another one of my favorite things is that in just a few short days you’ll have your hot little hands on the Winter 2017 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today! So what’s in store in the Winter issue? Here are a few things you can look forward to:

Wonderful projects and inspiration!
Fabulous projects! Cannot wait to see the magazine
Again, #inspiration=NAILED IT!
Great card, like how you get the ideas!
Awesome card and I can’t wait to see the newest issue! TFS!
This goes in my Christmas stocking.
This is a Beautiful Card! I love how you took inspiration from outside! I don’t think I would have considered these colours together without seeing how you did it! Thank you for great ideas!
I absolutely love the card/album page that was made using the older red pickup truck with a Xmas tree in the back. Not only is it beautifully made but merry memories are right. We used to borrow my grandads truck to go into the bush to cut down our own tree up north. What a great day and memory that was. This brought it all flooding back like it was yesterday. How I wish we were still able to do this!!!! I also can’t wait to receive my winter issue!!! The cover is gorgeous!!
Susan, is it another Michigan thing? I cannot tell you how often I’m inspired by the Crate n Barrel catalog!
Your card is outstanding! and love that you’ve stretched that Halloween paper!
Hmmm the Winter issue? Got it!!! and am so thrilled with the extra gifts, besides the magazine! Thanks again, Susan!
xoxo
Great job interpreting the banner into a card design! Love the colors you used. I have a hard time getting crafty inspiration from non-crafty sources. Maybe something to work on in the new year! :) ~ Andrea
