Happy Magazine Monday, my SCT friends!

How’s that holiday shopping coming? I love shopping, so it’s a year-round affair for me, and whenever I’m out and about, there’s nothing I love more than drawing creative inspiration from color combinations, store displays, and signage. Enter this display outside my local JCPenney at the mall:

The MINUTE I saw this sign, I honestly couldn’t wait to transfer the general concept into a card design. I mean those colors and those stripes! So great. So I hurried down to my craft room and whipped up this card:

supplies CARDSTOCK, DIES: My Favorite Things, Simon Says Stamp; PATTERNED PAPER: Doodlebug Design; RHINESTONES: My Mind’s Eye; ADHESIVE: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

First I searched for a way to make the black and gray background, and I scoured my B-sides and found a great match in this black and grey chevron print from the Doodlebug Design Haunted Manor collection.

Next, I used the Wise Men Still Seek Him die from Simon Says Stamp and cut it four times in four different colors. For the dots of the I’s I added a simple color-coordinating jewel giving the design a little holiday sparkle. So simple and truly based on the inspiration. It’s one of my favorite cards I’ve made in a while.
