Hey there!!!  Vicki here with a little mixed media background fun.  Simply put, I love layers.  I also LOVE the new Mini Doilies from Doodlebug Design.  So today I am putting the two together!

Doilies

I have been playing around with different ways to incorporate these sweet petite doilies in my projects and decided to use them for masking!  I love the look of doily masking and I have done it with large doilies and spray inks in the past.  Today I am using mini doilies and Distress Inks…take a look:

I created a layered background for this tag but these steps could be used on any project calling out for a little something extra!

Let’s get started…

Image 2

Add some colour to a tag with a few spritz of Mustard Seed Distress Spray.

Image 3

Add a few spritz of Brushed Pewter Distress Spray and let it dry.

Once the tag is dry, position a mini doily and add Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.

Move doily and repeat previous step.

Create a little depth by stamping an interest background image in black on to the tag.  Here's a closer look…

Super fun and super easy!!!! Here are a few other backgrounds I created while I was playing with the doilies and ink.

I hope you get a chance to try masking with doilies the next time you play with mixed media techniques!  And keep a look out for the Doodlebug Mini Doilies!!!
