Monday with Megan: Darling Doilies

Monday with Megan: Darling Doilies

At the Craft & Hobby Association trade show last week, one pretty little piece was making a resurgence on the crafting scene—doilies. This design motif has become more of a staple in crafting, but it saw new life with doily releases from some of your favorite brands. Let’s take a look!

Doodlebug Design Doilies

Colored doilies? Polka dot doilies? Just stop! I can’t take the cuteness anymore!

Simple Life by Echo Park

Here’s to going back to basics and celebrating the simpler side of things.

 Jubilee by My Mind’s Eye

Let’s celebrate with this pretty pairing of doilies and other delicate motifs.

Doilies by SRM Stickers

Take your doilies a different direction with heart patterns, or keep it more traditional with the basic rounds. Either way, doily details are only a craft store away. No more having to wait for certain holidays to roll around.

Doing doilies in fashion is light, summery and dashing.

Doilies are sure to make darling additions to your home. Here are just a few approaches to get your wheels spinning.

This is almost too pretty to place on the floor!

Doily Hoops by Found Vintage Objects

Doilies in embroidery hoops? What a basic yet perfect approach to wall art!

Framed Doily by Market N Main

Or perhaps frames are more your wall art object of choice. You can still get in on the home decor fun with this piece.

Designing with doilies is affordable, fashionable, and oh, so fun! Take a look at just a few of the MANY ideas out there for working with this dainty paper piece!

Oh, that Martha! She sure knows how to set the scene. Take a look at the ambiance created with these doilies on paper bags. Note: You’ll want to use those fake candles inside of these beauties.

Doily Shower Curtain by Etcetorize

I’ve never thought about shower-curtain crafts before. This doily design opens up a whole new world of creative possibility!

Doily Envelope Liner by Oh So Beautiful Paper

What a simple yet elegant idea for the inside of an envelope. Is there anything these doilies can’t do?

Doily Envelopes by Mago

Or, why not make your doily the envelope? So easy and so charming!

Doily Flowers/Wreath by Hostess with the Mostess

You need nothing more than the awesome tools at the end of your arms to pinch these flowers into shape. Whether you use them on a wreath, as shown on this post, or on a card front, they’re sure to bloom where they’re planted.

Doily Tags by I Love Die Line Studio

Doesn’t get much cuter or more basic than this!

Dang! That’s a lot of doily business for one Monday. I hope you’re inspired and ready to work doilies into your designs. Or, maybe you already do. If so, please leave a link to where your ideas or posted or simply share how you’ve used or plan to use doilies. I always love hearing from you!

  19. Natalie (QSOgirl) August 6, 2014 at 1:41 pm

I LOVE using doilies on my paper projects! In fact, as I started an album project (a December album documenting my daughter’s first month), I decided to buy in bulk… and bought 1000! (I even wrote a blog post about them: ;-)) You can get them pretty inexpensively from restaurant supply companies. One of these days I’ll figure out how to show off my daughter’s finished album (which used about 50 doilies) on my blog, but I am keeping track of how I use the rest of the doilies! I don’t think I’ll have any trouble using them up…

  20. Nancy Carroll August 6, 2014 at 10:06 pm
