Happy Friday, friends! We are excited to kick off our weekly series in 2023, New & Noteworthy, which you’ll find each Friday here on the blog! Our partners will be taking over the post to tell us about their latest and greatest products! Today we’re saying hello to Altenew, and learning more about a new product that is sure to bring out the artist in all of us!
Altenew’s Artists’ Gouache Paint Set is an exciting new collection of 12 vibrant, high-quality watercolor paints that are perfect for all kinds of creative projects. This set of professional-grade, non-toxic paints are designed to help artists and crafters create stunning projects with ease and precision. Featuring delicately pigmented colors in a range of hues, Altenew’s gouache paints offer a wide spectrum, provide smooth coverage, and are highly blendable for maximum color depth and richness. With its range of vivid colors, this paint set will enable both beginners and experienced crafters to explore new avenues of creativity and masterfully create stunning pieces of artwork.
The first set in this new product line is aptly named “Strolling Through New York,” as it was inspired by a brisk stroll through New York City. The rich & vibrant colors were carefully chosen for their versatility in painting a variety of subject matter – whether it is a glamorous cityscape, a bewitching botanical garden, or a modern portrait. These colors also perfectly coordinate with Altenew’s signature color families. For even more versatility, you can easily mix the various pigments to create your custom palette.
This gouache set comes with 12 premium quality tubes which contain 15ml of each color, and since a little goes a long way, one tube has more than enough for most projects. The tubes were designed specifically to take up less space than other gouache sets but still provide plenty of vivid pigmentation. Its superior quality pigment ensures vibrancy and longevity, while its unique airtight packaging means you can always trust that your paint will remain fresh between uses – making this set an essential tool in any crafter’s arsenal.
Altenew hosted a fun and inspiration-filled blog hop on launch day featuring incredibly talented designers. Let’s take a quick look at some of these breathtaking projects.
First up is Jessica Frost-Ballas’s (@jessicafrostballas) handpainted Winter Crocus. To get a reference for her painting, Jessica stamped Altenew’s Winter Crocus Stamp Set onto dark navy blue cardstock with white pigment ink. This is an excellent tip for those who want to give their painting a freehand look! Jessica shared that while this wasn’t the quickest card she has ever created, she enjoyed the time she spent carefully painting each segment. She added, “The gouache is rich and creamy, and a little goes a very long way when you’re working!”
Looking at Therese Calvird’s (@lostinpaper) bright and fun “double rainbow” card would make you think it’s not her first time using gouache. Think again! Believe it or not, Therese had never used gouache paints before, but she truly enjoyed painting with them and mentioned how easy they were to use. Her beginner-friendly inspiration features bright and colorful stripes (painted with Altenew’s #18 flat brush) and die-cut color bands.
If you’re unfamiliar with the fantastic coloring queen, Erum Tasneem (@glitternswirls), then prepare to be blown away! We’ve been such big fans of Erum’s watercoloring skill, and her use of Altenew’s gouache was, of course, phenomenal! Like Therese, Erum was also new to gouache (loose watercolors were more her “cup of tea”). And although it took her a few tries to figure out the right amount of water, she still had fun experimenting with the pigment and consistency of the gouache. Who else thinks her stunning handpainted tree should be framed and put up on a wall?!
LauraJane (@mammacooksalot) was such a newbie to gouache that she admittedly didn’t even know she was pronouncing it wrong! Her lifelike handpainted florals, however, were no joke! Once she got the mixing and layering down, she painted these marvelous images from Altenew’s Wonderland Stamp Set. Some tips from LauraJane: use a Fine Liner Pen for that extra depth and add watercolor splatters and wash to make the background pop.
Altenew’s Artists’ Gouache Paint Set is an outstanding product that opens up endless possibilities for creative expression through art. Whether you are a beginner just starting in your artistic journey or a professional artist looking for new ways to express yourself – this paint set may be just what you need to take your work to the next level!
