Hello SCT fans, this is Becky from Photoplay Paper taking over the SCT blog today! We think nothing beats a good giggle (or even a snort), and that is how our new collection, No Pun Intended came to life. In addition to the 12×12 papers, element stickers and die cut ephemera, this collection also features four stamps and die sets. The stamps are filled with iconic images and coordinating puns, and these little gut-busters are great for making quick and easy cards. I made all four of these cards in about an hour!

Although I love colouring with Copics, when I’m short on time, I turn to Stabilo #68 water-based pens. They are a highly-pigmented pen and blend beautifully colour-to-colour. For a watercolour look, you can also blend them with a water pen or watercolour brush. And the best part? You don’t need to stamp your images on expensive watercolour paper. For these four cards, I did my stamping on Strathmore Bristol paper.

This first card features the No Pun Intended Fruits & Veggies stamps. As you can see, the Bristol paper did a great job handling several layers of water to create the background.

The second card highlights the candle in the So Punny stamp set. I coloured the candles using two shades of each color and they blended together well.

For the third card, I stamped the lightbulb from the So Punny set to create a random background. I colored the base of each light in the darkest yellow, then blended with the lightest yellow. Using a watercolour brush, I feathered out the very edges of the lightest yellow make it look more transparent.

For the final card, I stamped three rows of donuts from the Sweets stamps and coloured them in with two shades of pink. I stamped the 10th donut, cut it out using the coordinating dies, then glued it to the end of a sentiment banner.

When you are short on time and need a humourous card, give these stamp sets a try. Since they come together so quickly, you can create a little stash of giggles to have on hand!

Be sure to join us again on Friday ;)
