My daughter requested a rock star birthday when she turned 8, along with a rock star cake. Not being a very proficient cake decorator I went on a shopping mission to find some suitable rock star decorations. To my dismay there were none to be found. Then I had a brain wave – digital supplies to the rescue!

I used one of Pattie Knox’s Shimmer Me Tidbits -Rock Star Girl glitter embellishments
(http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/product_info.php/products_id/4136)
and one of Katie Pertiet’s banner strips

to make a personalized cake topper. I placed a copy of the girl embellishment on a 4×6 sheet of photo paper, resizing it to fit. Then I created a duplicate layer of the girl and made a mirror image of that layer. (Edit, Transform, Flip Horizontal in Photoshop or Image, Rotate, Flip Horizontal in PSE). After printing, I cut around the edges and glued them together. I used a tooth pick as a stand to place her on the cake.

I created the flag she is holding by using one of Katie’s Banner Strips No. 2 and adding my own text to it. After I printed and cut out the images, I folded the paper strip in half and trimmed the straight end in a “v” shape. I used a toothpick to hold my flag and glued that into my rock star girl’s hand.

I loved how it came out and my little rock star and her buddies were very impressed. Why don’t you try something like this for your next party!
